I don't know what you're arguing about but there are many different variations of the 3-4 defense, the Jet for instance more often run a offset 3-4 which is basically a 4-3 with more athletic guys on the field. In this scenario it is the ends job to eat blockers and control the B&C gaps. That's why Jenkins is important to us as he alone controls the A gaps. If this is done correctly our LB's our free to rush the passer or hit the runner. That's a simple explanation, but for the Phins they never found their defensive identity last year and I think it's going to be hard to find it this year. Marshall Law, I hope you're not referring to one article to explain a entire defensive system. I think most Phin fans don't know what their D is going to look like at this point.

Yeah I agree if that is what that specific DE role is. I think in our defense, at least last year was to take on blockers to allow our LB's access to the QB. Which is another scheme used in a 3-4.

This is about the 10th article posted here about how the Jets chemistry will be a major problem for Rex. Get use to it the next 30 days. It does two things...gets a reaction out of Jet Nation (the goal) and with all the new Jet haters out there, a pat on the back. There is no reason any person should ever believe the Jets are on the way down. They cant even believe this so called chemistry problem. Mini camps have come and gone. Receivers showing up on the west coast at our young qb's demand. Final year of a contract for both receivers who might cause a problem. A running back trying to save his NFL life and possibly go out a champion. Nothing there shows me any gasoline to believe that this team will have zero chemistry problems as long as its at least, in the hunt. No sane person can make that argument unless their goal is something other than stating facts.
For every article about how we're going to end up 2nd or 3rd in the AFC East, there are about 10 others than say we're set to win the division. The negative articles are just talked about more. I think we should all lighten up a little.

Like backer stated, there are several variations on the 3-4, and to state that it's not the DE's job to hunt down a QB is crazy. So....... to tell me that I dont know anything about football is pure homerism in your own fassion. I posted that article so you guys could see what Patriot land was spewing, and maybe you didn't read what I posted under the link. I stated that I would not have thought that the JETS would be on the decline, but moreso the PATRIOTS. Furthermore this just proves my theory that you didnt read anything that has been posted, you just see that it was a DOLPHINS fan that posted it, and attacked. There is a lot more I can say about that, but I won't delve into the ignorance that you have brought to the table.
