I still think his parents should've named him Carl, and called him car for short.

For a franchise with a lot of Mediocrity which someone said earlier, that is alot of potential people to honor

Yeah but I did & that is where the difference lies in the way we think!

OBTW look up Cimini blog he lists the present DLman we have & I assure U not one of them brings goose bumps to the opposing OLman. Now unless we get some people who can pressure the opposing QB since right now they could sit back there & count up to 1 million Mississippi before one of our lads gets back to threaten him & because of that you will not see a SB this year either sorry to say because no matter how good the DBF is the receiver sooner or later will break free of the defender

In case you desire not to look up the list here it is

That means the defensive line will look like this: Kris Jenkins, Sione Pouha, Shaun Ellis and Mike DeVito are the top four, with Vernon Gholston, Rodrique Wright, Ropati Pitoitua and Matt Kroul in reserve. Don't forget, Jason Taylor and Bryan Thomas can play end in four-man alignments.

I didn't say they should all be in. I was just putting out a list of potential candidates for discussion.

As for some of the names I left off, here's why:

Gastineau - one trick pony and first class jerk, and a quitter, hated by teammates
Testaverde - one great year does not get you in the ROH. Other than 98, what did he do?
Injured in 99. Led league in picks and cost team playoffs with Baltimore meltdown in 00. Became a game manager in 01. Benched in 02. No ROH for that IMO

Ellis- a sometimes good, sometimes average, never great player who has had a long career, but does not deserve ROH status.

It is unbelievable that Champ would put Steve Tambalini and Bill Mathis in the ROH before players like Toon and Walker. I didn't know just being on a championship roster made you a better football player than some people with no rings. I guess Lebron James is right - the ring is everything.

As for the Jets being laughing stocks of the NFL, how does Champ explain that in the last 12 years, the Jets have 6 playoff appearances, missed the playoffs by one game on the last day of the season in three other seasons, 2 AFC Championship game appearances, 11 playoff games played with a 5-6 record despite having only 2 home playoff games, only 3 losing seasons, and an overall 100-92 record. That is not great, but it is not the record of a laughing stock team. Get over it Champ. We have seen some good football in the past 12 years.

The Giants are doing something similar but have not announced the members yet. Each teams' ROH will only be on display during their own games.

i dont like the timing one single bit. this should have been done at or after the 2nd preseason game. it deserves its own stage.

now it will just be a piece of the carnival that will be coming to town that week. besides the fact the place will be half giants fans who bought tickets on the interwebs.

i am actually a little annoyed about doing it on that week, nobody is going to be paying attention they will still be walking around checking everything out and not giving a shit.

i vote for herm edwards in the second class!

my dad was wearing my herm must go shirt the last time i visited his house. purchased from right here on the ganggreen.

I see the lists and everyone opinions and that's fine.

But the ring of honor is only for future HOFers or guys who should be in the HOF, like Klecko and Winston Hill.

So Chrebet, Toon, Walker, etc. won't make it. Its only for the truly elite players that played on a franchise.

Look at the other ring of honors around the league - they don't put "fan favorites" in there. They put the players that were the elite of the franchise and the elite of the game in the ring of honor.

    Time to shorten those lists.

H'mm what have we won in those 12 years you reference? I Googled & Googled & Googled & found NOTHING that we won in that period. Nary a AFC Championship & nary a SB Championship naturally because we did not win a AFC Championship in that period. Getting into the POs does not cut it nor does winning regular season records. The only thing that matters is how many rings did you win. That is what the season is played for winning CHAMPIONSHIPs. Just think of the 6 rings that the Steelers have, the 5 rings that both the Boys & Niners have as a guideline. Then You can drop a bit to the Pats 3, NYGs 3, Skins 3 & the Raiders 3 as another guideline. In our case only 1 team has won it ALL so they should be honored for that achievement. I did not specifically pick out players from that team I said the ENTIRE 68 team.

the entire 68 team does not deserve to be in the r.o.h.

and in the last 12 years the jets have been very respectable, but i understand we havent won a sb in that time period, aaaaaah but it's coming!!!!

Ah it is been coming since 01/13/69 just think of that!

Ah yes respectable does not cut it either. All that cuts it is winning CHAMPIONSHIPs

Being a STH since 65 do you think I was unaware of the really awful years?

Yes lets hope the drought stops this season

    Wow, talk about Seniority. lol

That's 45 years, good job!!

    -EDIT-
Actually, did they have season tickets back then like they do now? I thought for some reason that it wasn't until the 70's that they started.

This is just another example of the Jets screwing something good, up. Why would you do this when during a pre-season game when the Stadium might be A.) half filled and people leaving early because the starters wont play past the 2nd quarter and its a work day the following day. B.)Since its against the Giants there will probably be a decent amount of Giant fans in there that want to go and see the stadium in action as well.

The logical choice would have been to do this during the HOME OPENER against the Ravens on MNF when the building will most likely be sold out, and just another way to get your fans pumped for the 2nd half.

Once again a franchise full of smart men, they have somehow missed the boat on this one I feel.

Could not agree with you more. When it was announced the 1st thing that came to my mind was it was a gimmick to sell out the stadium. But then after more thought I realized that the game was part of the PSL & STH package so I could not figure out why they would want to do when there will be a boatload of NYGs fans also in the stadium instead of waiting to a true NYJ home game
