Did I miss something? Or did we not blow up the whole secondary besides Revis and start over just so we could beat him.
Did you just wakeup from watching the AFC championship game? We retooled the whole secondary except for basically 2 players. I don't think we could've done more to change our secondary. There was no reason to get rid of Revis and Leonhard? On top of that we had some DB's go down in that game, or were playing injured. EDIT: Sorry Milo did not see your post. That about sums it up.
Shit like that just cracks me up. There's always gonna be Jet fans like that I guess no matter what happens. Some are just too old and too emotionally scarred I guess. I remember last year sitting at Gatsby's (shoutout to THE BEST Jets bar in South Florida) during the Tampa game next to three guys who did nothing but bitch and moan about the fact that we weren't winning by 50. If you wanna be a SOJ for life, that's your prerogative. But at least get your facts straight.
It's not the DBF that I am discussing it is the pass rush or lack of the pass rush that I am referring to. As a wise FB maven I am sure you are more then aware that the more pressure put on by the DL & backers forcing the other sides QB to throw early or have to take a sack or threw the ball away the more effective the secondary becomes. That is all I am saying & right now looking at the team the weakest link to me is a dominant PR
We added JT, moved VG to DE, and we have Jenkins back. Our guys are another year further into the Rex defense and will be that much more comfortable. The pass rush is a question mark, but with our improved secondary we just need to hurry the QB on most occasions because we'll have them covered. Rex has admitted that Peyton has his number, so I'm sure Rex is planning as we type for a future rematch. We did have the #1 Pass defense last year, but Peyton is Peyton for a reason.
i agree... but darksiders are darksiders for a reason too. just sayin' edit: on topic... in no particular order fins pats vikes fins pats
The best way to counter blitzes, is to run slants/shorten your routes or dump it off on a HB swing. There's a reason why Peyton Manning went AT Drew Coleman for most of the 2nd half. Garcon was getting off the line with relative ease. You can send the entire house @ Peyton Manning but if ur CB is going to allow the slot receiver a free release, it won't matter. You're done.
Fair enough but we're not talking about opposing QB's in general we're talking about Manning. Manning has a 3.3% career sack rating second only to Marino all-time, who had 3.1%. That's not because he's never faced a dominant pass rush, and it's not because he's always had a dominant offensive line. It's because his release time beats blitzes no matter how good they are. So Rex's strategy in making sure just about nobody's open after he releases is the correct one.
Ah I think U R forgetting the beginning of the game when we harassed the heck out of PM & he was totally ineffective. Then he figure us out & whammo there went the ballgame. So unless we find the solution to him & Favre & Rogers, Flacco, Palmer Rothy & others & let them count to 100 Mississippi so they can pick us apart we had better find a way to be disruptive up front or we will again be after thoughts in the SB derby. Normally that solution is pressure the QB & at this moment our PR is like I said quiet as a church mouse.
I dunno we could go round and round with this for hours but I for one think sacks are over-rated, and don't tell the whole tale. We beat Brady last year without a single sack, just a whole lot of hurries and nobody open to throw to. Every QB listed above is consistently sackable. Peyton is not.
My most anticipated games are the first five games. We have our three Div. rivals and two other league favorites. When we win these games all doubters can kiss our asses. :jets:
The home opener is probably going to be the sickest atmosphere out of any other game we play in the regular season. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. The stadium should be going fucking nuts, like the home game vs the Pats last year if not louder. Rex is gonna be gassed up and ready to go, he'll have Scott, Lehonard and the rest of the team looking to start this season off with a fucking statement. Definitely my most anticipated game of the season. Obviously the Phins and Pats games, and the other ones that were mentioned hold extra interest.
5.) @ Buffalo - I love when the Jets win in western New York 4.) @ Cleveland - Paying Mangini a visit 3.) Vikings at home - Welcome back Favre we got some pain on the menu 2.) Ravens at home - First game at the new stadium should be exciting 1.) Pats vs. Jets wk2 - Beating the Pats is always tops on my list and setting the tone in the division is very crucial early in the season. Pow! right in the kisser! Pow! right in the kisser! Pow! right in the kisser!
I think the Packers game will be a good game, but won't get a lot of attention because there isn't a storyline. It'll be fun to see the Jets D shut down one of the best passing teams in the league. Aaron Rodgers will have a big-time year this year, but hopefully not on the Jets dime.
in no particular order Baltimore Miami (away) New England (home) Minnesota Green Bay HM: Houston (Revis v. Johnson sweet) Pitt (Holmes returns to pitt) Game(s) of the Year: The divison will likely (well hopefully) be on the line in weeks 13 (NE-away) and 14 (MIA-Home). Chances are we will be neck and neck with at least one of those two going into the last quarter of the season, and chances are good the divison is going to rest on our ability to win the game over whichever one is our stiffest competition for the division.
The Toranto Bill dont stand a chance in this game, especially since there will be nothing left of your team after week 1, when Miami wipes the field with you amatures.:buffaloblows:
1 Ravens Monday night, Huge battle for seeding later on 2 Pats, Its the Pats 3 Vikings, Monday night vs FARVE!! 4 Miami, RIVAL 5 not really a #5 could be Steelers(holmes), Browns (mangini, edwards), Bengals
