If not for Rhodes pushing Boldin in the back Smith wouldn't have went helmet to helmet. Rhodes completley (unintentionally) made that play a lot worse than it was going to be.

On topic, I think it was a pretty decent unbiased article but clearly the writer doesn't know the Jets very well.

Week 1 is going to be a great game, I expect it to be tough but if you don't think Rex and the team is going to be fired up for the home opener vs his old squad then your nuts.

watch the video again, while i agree it is his fault, he did not do it on purpose. He was intitally leading for boldins shoulder but was blasted from behind by rhodes which cause boldins head to shoot down and thats when smith collided into it

It was a accident, I don't think any Jet goggles were involved.

Just like the Dennis Byrd accident, things seem to happen when HUGE men are running full force and diving into you.

I was thinking of Byrd as well, no intent to injure, just wrong place, wrong time.

Fair enough. I'll concede it may not have been his fault, but you need to not lead with your helmet when a guy is floating defenseless like that. Helmet-to-helmet hits like that are no joke.

This will easily be the best game of week 1, maybe top-5 of the season. Thank god we have all the intangibles on our side for this game, the biggest of which is the opening day, Monday night, stark-raving mad home field advantage.

I hope it makes last year's New England game sound like a library.

I would say that the Ravens are better. AFC Title game, Divisional Round the next year. QB in year 3, added Boldin, Kindle and Cody. I would rank them as the Top 3 in the AFC with the Colts and Jets. Mostly equal, but edge goes to the Ravens. After Week 1, we will truly know. Again, I also am not trying to get too hyped up on the Jets. Any time I do, I get let down. BIG TIME.
