Wow that wasn't exactly the friendliest news conference I've ever seen. Revis pretty much walked off stage mid question. He's gonna use the Asomugha deal as the line in the sand and don't think he's gonna budge an inch. He was asked wether it matters that Asomugha's paid way more than the next highest corner and that essentialy it was a stupid deal. Not budging. "I have a lot of leverage after last season." "If they're gonna come out and say I'm the best corner in the league then why shouldn't I fight for being the highest paid corner?" He even said something about sitting out the first game. This sounds like it's gonna get ugly.
of course he does....but this impending deal will certainly impact how the Jets approach Mangold, Brick and Harris' deals. Revis deserves his payday....but not at the expense of handcuffing the team.

If I'm a GM, there would be a "Raiders Clause." You cannot use any Raider player contract as a basis for your negotiation.
I hope Revis enjoys 3 more seasons with the Jets. No cornerback is worth that kind of money. It destroys your cap to pay that much for a non quaterback. I hate to say it, but at some point they would have to entertain trading him.
It was on live feed on the jets site. They took it down to setup the replay like they usually do. Should be back up there in an hour or so. Wonder if they're gonna edit the end where the reporter started yelling someithing about "This is America I'll ask what I want" as Revis walked off. About the only positive thing I heard him say is he WILL be at mini-camp. My guess is he's done with the media for a while after that bullshit.
I think milo is correct....By the sounds of things, Revis is anchoring himself quite deep on this contract issue. This could get seriously ugly.....I can just imagine the bullshit Revis' agent is filling his head with....isn't he the same clown that represents Pete Kendall?
Yeah I believe it is. And he's also rep'ing Steven Jackson who's in a similar "going fucking nowhere" negotiation. One of the beat writers put that to Revis about his agent, kind of alluding to the fact that he may be a douchebag. That's kinda when things went downhill and Revis started getting pissed.
If Revis wants to get this done he is gonna need to compromise at some point. That Aso contract is probably the most retarded contract ever drawn up in the NFL. He deserves to be the highest paid and if he signs a reasonable contract he will be the highest paid guy the second Aso's dumbass contract ends and he is forced to sign a normal deal.
whoever that reporter is, he was obnoxious. yelling about how he will ask 15 questions he doesn't care, he's a reporter that's his job, etc. then repeating a question he answered like 2 minutes prior. guy was an asshat. the presser was cut short bc of the reporter.
i understand everyone is pissed with the blankets contract, but it is what it is and we need to just pay this guy...you don't come across guys with this much talent to often
