Must be a slow day at OTAs today..not seeing updates. Doesn't worry me a bit. You've got 3 years left. Sorry dude.
No he doesn't. This is the last year of his contract until the Jets decide whether they want to buy back the last 2 years - for 20 million guaranteed. They got voided when he met incentives.
I don't blame him. Tanny plays hardball all day long, that's how they have to do it if they better players want to get paid. Look at what happened to Leon.
There's no doubt in my mind that Revis and Mangold will sign extensions this off-season. Things to have to be worked out.
well makes enough sense Revis is debatably the best at his position definitely All Pro. and Nick Mangold is hands down the best C in football. after watching Leon last year I'd be doing the same thing. Sure I'd love Rex and the atmosphere, I'd love security for my future even more though. Especially when your as good as they are. Tanny can play hardball but eventually youll have Rex breathing down Tanny's neck to try to speed up the process if it comes to missing serious reps with teammates in the offseason its a big problem we have, but its a good problem to have when you just happened to draft so well the last few years that your core players can deservingly demand a generous contract at their position.
he got traded? Tanny does a lot for his players, contract-wise. I'd hate to see Mangold holdout until his contract is restructured.
He got traded as a direct result of going into 2009 with no new contract and then broke his leg in 2 places. Now he is rehabbing and playing for a new contract yet again. That's was definitely a lesson learned by a lot of guys, Mangold and Revis included, that witnessed it firsthand.
TheJetsStream Ladainian tomlinson has added a jets tattoo to accompany the lightning bolt tattoo he already had. #nfl #nyj
as much as i hope neither guy holds out it's their only option to move things along. teams cut guys when they aren't performing up to their contract and we all say it was a good business move. the only option a player has when he is outperforming his contract is to hold out until he gets one that pays what he is worth. it sucks but the business side of things works both ways.
oh i dont blame him either. mangold has to look out for himself. one play can end his career he needs to make sure he can eat if that happens. from a fans standpoint though, him possibly not being on the field is not good.
you gotta know how to give someone a low number without insulting them. Lets use common sense and get this fucking thing done. I don't care about holding out during voluntary wokouts. No biggie. Stop with the negotiating 101 tactics used when you're buying a used car.
