Even as a Jet fan I didn't think they were Super Bowl contenders myself with a rookie QB until they almost got there. I'll take your argument for 2008 though, if we had Pennington instead of Favre we probably would have at least won the AFC East, for damn sure you guys wouldn't have. But in hindsight if that happened we wouldn't have Rex or Sanchez, most likely, so I'll give you that one. Now all you have to do is cut Pennington and let him sign here as a backup and we're all good. By the way, Miami hasn't been in the Super Bowl since 1984-85--Dan Marino's second year in the league. So throw the 1969 game out there all you want, at least we won that one. Miami's last win was the 1973 season, five years after ours.
You should see the Dolphins coaches praising Pennington's football smarts in camp. He really is like another coach out there for Henne. Some of the guys joke around with him telling him to call the plays on offense from now on. Oh, and trust me I'm well aware. As a long time Dolphins fan that's always been one of my dreams. To physically witness my team winning a superbowl, not just playing in one. Nobody cares who finishes 2nd. I guess at least I can say I've seen them play in one.
No but it's his and the O's fault for not executing in first halves of games and turning it over. They were down 24-6, 27-0 and 27-10 in those last 3 games. The D certainly gets their share of the blame but the offense led by Henne needed to do their part and they did not.
Lmao in the Houston game it certainly wasn't his fault...A drop by Ricky which resulted in a pick by a guy who was on roids and the D allowing 27 first half points gave him no chance Agreed he played poorly down the stretch of the Titans game. Although he played well enough to put us in position to win despite more terrible defensive play The Steelers game was more dreadful defense, and Henne got hurt. Not to mention there was like a 3% chance of us making the playoffs even with a win in that game
I think I read the same article about Trent Edwards in a Buffalo newspaper 2 years ago. But then again, I'm not sure if Edwards can make a mean tuna casserole.
Any Jet fan will tell you that it was Sanchez holding the team back early on as they waited for him to turn the corner. Again, no one that I remember on here was calling for him to be in the pro bowl. You talk about game planning, well again, most sensible fans on here were furious about the way Schotty was handling his gameplan with him early on. It was only when Rex took the reigns and said enough, this is what we are going to do, that the rookie started to settle down, and not force throws. You should also take into consideration how many times his starting WRs changed last year, and how many picks were thrown due to bad timing with Edwards, but that is a story for another day.
Yea, but he got to see the phins play in one, and lose. Listen, it is pretty sad when another fanbase comes on here and makes fun of the Jets for not winning a title in over 40 years, a fact that Jet fans are well aware of and bitch about ourselves. But to come from fans of a team that has waited 37 years? LOL, that is pretty sad.
I really don't know why you even come back to this site...You basically have no credibility here. You'd be better off making a new name and hoping no one runs an IP check.
14 games into his NFL career he's being anointed the next Marino. Awesome. He looks like he has tools to be a good NFL QB, but seriously, the next Marino? I can't wait for his 5000 yard season in 2010.
This is a good point. No way is Henne a HoF Qb and may never be. However he looks pretty solid. dolphins look to have a solid starter at QB now. Best QB situation they've had with since Marino retired. Henne with Thigpen and Pennington behind him is in good shape.
So he doesn't get any blame for leading his offense to zero points? he was the main culprit against Tennessee and he pussed out of the Steeler game after leading them to another awful start. he had a good year overall for a 1st year QB, he had a better year overall than Sanchez BUT when Miami needed him most he failed and when we needed Sanchez most he stepped up.
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's put in Pat White against the Steelers!!!!!! I think his head is still ringing after that hit!!!!!!!!:rofl:
i dont get it for the first time in their franchise history, they get a real QB (maybe?) and WR in the same season. they had to trade bigtime for their WR though many teams have both, and been having MULTIPLE targets they can just double cover marshall, then what? buahahhahaha
And the Phins have not been there since 1983...After a few years you have to let it go. Calling some fan out would be fine if your team has been there this decade... Would a 27 year old date a 47 year old..probably..The Year of the cougar !!!
I didn't call anybody out, other then Mark Sanchez. I was simply correcting some of the information said about Henne. I didn't come on here to make fun of you Jets fans for having a poor history. Every body on this site already knows about that. I was simply correcting some of the information said about Henne with facts, and then added a breakdown of 'MR CLUTCH' Mark Sanchez and how he played 'not-so'clutch' down the stretch. But how about you? Have you ever even witnessed your team playing in a Superbowl in your life time?
But Sanchez did play well in our biggest games and henne did underperform in your biggest games so what info did you correct?
