That is correct, at 0-3 w/ no pressure he played well then when he faced the pressure w/ the playoffs on the line he ld them to 0-3 to finish the season. He has to prove he can play in big games, so far in college and his one year playing in the NFL he has not proven it.
Yeah but ours was better in terms of wins  Just busting your balls, post like these I can respect. Henne looks promising, more promising than any other QB you have had in the recent past. The guy has a lot of potential but just like Sanchez or any other young QB there will be some growing pains. You just hope your team is good enough to fight through and roll with the punches. The future is bright for both of our QB's and the games between them should be exciting. The real test for Henne will be his big pressure games. He wasn't that good in college when he had to show up and last year when he could have led the team to a playoff berth in the later weeks of the season. It'll just take time, hopefully for us Jet fans though it will be Henne fighting for wild card spots while we have the AFC East Title clinched
I didn't read the article, but after seeing Henne play in a few games, I can see why Phin fans are getting excited about him. He has a nice skillset, as long as they develop him correctly. Here's to Sparano and crew fucking that process up royally.
Well hey, if all of us QB's could be so lucky to just hand the ball off against back-ups in 2 of the last 3 weeks of the regular season, maybe my team would be singing a different tune too. I'd take the Henne vs Sanchez debate any day!
Sanchez played his best football in our 3 more important games(in postseason), Henne played his worst in your 3 most important games(last 3). You can have all the meaningless fantasy #s you want, I'll take the guy who can play under pressure.
This argument has no merit. It would if Sanchez shit the bed the following week in the playoffs against the Bengals. Or the next week against the Chargers, or the next week against the Colts. The truth is, when the playoffs started, at the highest pressure point of the season, Sanchez played his best football. What was Henne doing at that time?
Down the stretch, the Jets D carried them with the running game. Not Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was not the reason the Jets made the playoffs. In fact he was almost the sole reason why the #1 defense and #1 running game DIDN'T make the playoffs. His play was average at best down the stretch and Ryan knew that. That's why he had to 'take the pressure off Sanchez' to make the playoffs. He did not play his best ball when the games were on the line. The defense played their best ball when the games were on the line. Take a look at how clutch your boy was exactly. 4th Quarter and OT numbers: 37 of 75, 49.33%, 569 yards, 1 TD, 10 INT - 39.66 QB rating Sanchez 4th Quarter when Jets are +/- 3 points 3 of 8, 37.5%, 25 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT - 6.8 QB rating Sanchez 4th Quarter when Jets are +/- 7 points 23 of 44, 52.3%, 289 yards, 0 TD, 3 INT - 44.6 QB rating Even Jamarcus Russell has a higher QB rating then Mark Sanchez does in the clutch! Let's take a look at some of those "big games" that Sanchez "played better" in. Week 15 - At that very moment it looked like the Jets would need to win their last three games to make the playoffs. It looked like a longshot that they could make it if they lost to the Falcons. They did lose and even Rex Ryan called the season over after that game. So, in a losing effort this is how Sanchez did in this "big game" 32 attempts, 18 completions, 226 yards, 1 TDS, 3 INTS Conclusion: Failure in a big game Week 16 - The Jets are still alive but have no room for error. Luckily for them, the Colts pull their starters very early and the Jets have a VERY easy road to a win. 19 attempts, 12 completions, 106 yards, 0 TDS, 0 INTS Conclusion: Not bad, not great. Win was mostly because of the Colts pulling their starters and the fact that the Jets had 202 total yards rushing. Sanchez was merely along for the ride in this game. Week 17 - The Jets find themselves in a win and your in scenario against the Bengals. Thankfully for the Jets that the Colts played backups the week before otherwise the Jets wouldn't have this chance at all. The Bengals know that they are locked into the 4th spot, so the game is completely meaningless. While a big game for the Jets, it is just another preseason game for the Bengals as they are looking already to next week. The Jets of course blow out the Bengals 16 attempts, 8 completions, 63 yards, 0 TDS, 0 INTS Conclusion: Again the Jets have a big day rushing the ball with 257 yards on the ground. The fact that the Bengals were looking to Wild Card Weekend before the game even started was a major factor. Sanchez did NOTHING in this game and hardly could be considered playing good in a big game. A very lousy game actually for him Wild Card Weekend - Really this is the first game since November that Sanchez plays good in. Though even Ryan Leaf had some good games. 15 attempts, 12 completions, 182 yards, 1 TDS, 0 INTS Conclusion: Good game for Sanchez. The Bengals played sloppy in this game missing field goals and not executing on offense. Though again, it was the running game that carried the Jets Divisional Round - Back to being just average this week for Mark against the Chargers. 23 attempts, 12 completions, 100 yards, 1 TDS, 1 INTS Conclusion: Nothing really to write home about. Sanchez does not take over the game, but he still doesn't lose it. The game was out of his hands for the most part. Championship Game - The Colts get a rematch with the Jets. The team that allowed to make it this far. Lets face it, if the Colts play their starters a full game Week 16, the Jets finish the regular season 8-8 at best and out of the playoffs. Sanchez starts out good including an 80 yard touchdown pass to Edwards. For the most part Sanchez plays very well in this game. Though at the end of the day the Jets lose. 30 attempts, 17 completions, 257 yards, 2 TDS, 1 INTS Conclusion: Sanchez plays well in a losing effort. Down by 13 with two and a half minutes left, Sanchez throws a critical game ending interception. He definitely does not come up big in this big game. Overall Conclusion: The Mark Sanchez you see as a Superstar really is just Super average during big games. Sanchez had a better supporting cast then Henne did last year, yet Henne still outperformed him in less games. Sanchez did not play his best ball down the stretch 'in big games'. Sanchez played his best ball in September.
His helmet was just too tight, hence the forehead pussy. Henne to me is Ken O'Brien, a lot of upside as a young player but very mechanical and will not be effective if put under pressure.
shocker!!! the dolphins fans have managed to project their obsession with the jets into yet another thread.
2010LookinUP, for a rookie, in his first taste of the NFL playoffs, he played his best football. Did anyone on here say that he was the NFL MVP? No. Because realistic fans of this team will tell you that he was awful during the regular season. The simple fact of the matter is, even with all his mistakes during the season, he corrected them and by the playoffs had cut way down on mistakes, was making big time NFL throws (case in point, the TD pass to Keller against SD in the red zone) and was making progress as an NFL starter. There was more to see than just the stats. He could have folded his tent, especially after the horrendous game against the bills. But he did not. What does that tell you? Well, he shows great potential moving forward. He has shown he can contribute and win big games under the right gameplan. All NFL QBs need a good run game to win, you cannot be one dimensional, eventually, you have to throw the ball. You could look at it this way, had Sanchez not made so many mistakes during the season, the Jets probably would have locked up a playoff berth before week 17.
Yeah, well, if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. So what's that tell you? If. What if the Jets didn't have the #1 rushing attack last year? Then what IF? Your post proves Mark Sanchez was the Jets weakest link. If last years Jets even had Chad Pennington as their starter, I bet they would have seriously contended for a title. Someone to manage the game well with that #1 pass D and #1 rushing attack. Not someone who's going to throw 3 or 4 picks in a game, so you have to game plan around that to protect him!
and the perfect example of a dolphins fan. so embarrassed by your own team that you had to pretend to be a steelers fan on the internet.
It was an odd-numbered year, which means Pennington only lasts a few games, but you've probably figured that out by now. Also, what do you mean "would have seriously contended for a title"? I'd say being up 17-6 in the AFC Championship game is seriously contending for a title, wouldn't you?
 A conference title, sure. But nobody thought you were a real superbowl contending threat last year with Sanchez at the helm. Other then maybe Jets fans. The Jets haven't even played in a Superbowl since 1969. Kinda tough to win one that way..
