Honestly, I have not seen a game in the last 2 weeks where the Yankees have controlled the game from start to finish, to dominate for 9 innings. This game is such shit its beyond words
wow Joe Morgan is an arrogant asshole. He is refusing to debate whether or not Gardner was safe or out. Instead he's just saying "No, he's out"
No trash talk, I didn't think the Mets had a chance in hell to win this series and I was terrified when the 9th inning began to unravel for us. Great series Yankee fans and unless we make the move to get Oswalt it may be the lone highlight of our season. See you at the stadium in a month.
what a good game. just got home, after about an hour and a half. Took a few trains and walked about a mile and a half after a long wait for a bus. I came prepared for a battle, but the Yankees fans laid down after the second, save for a brief revival in the 8th and 9th
Congrats to the Mets fans this morning. I actually wound up skipping last night's game in favor of LOST. Well, in 20/20 hindsight, I should have just gone to bed early. The Yankees rotation is floundering. The lineup can't hit. The defense is shotty at best (by the way, I've always been a Jeter supporter, but is it me, or does he have no range to either side this year?) I don't want to insult the Mets by going on and on about how bad the Yankees are playing. The Mets won this series because they did things right. But the Yankees are playing terrible baseball in every facet of the game right now. And Curtis Granderson isn't going to magically fix that when he returns.
those 2 balls to jeters left early in the game, mike bordick could have gotten to. sorry wheater time to find a new position.need his leadership on the field though. where would you move him too,,,3rd and arod to ss??? idk
I would rather get Lee out of seatle. I like Oswalt but Lee would make our top 3 scary. It would need to be a trade on condition they sign him long term. I think Santana feeds off the performances of the other pitchers on his staff more than any other starter I have ever seen. When Pelfrey pitches well Santana does as well for some reason. Now on to the phillies with whatever guys they can find to pitch for a day! I do not see us beating them without Pel or Santana going. I like Neise and think he is either viable trade bait when he returns or a quality #4 starter if we can somehow pull off a trade for a top two of the rotation starter. The Yankees are clearly the better team but the Mets got the clutch hits this weekend and earned the series victory. Next month will probably be different but it's nice to see the Mets play hard and earn a series win against such a good team.
Can Cano play short? Can they flip spots in the off season? He has the arm for it and Jeter could still be the field general if he was at second. Jeter is the smartest player I have ever seen play and at 3rd I think you would loose his ability to control the game with his heads up play because he would no longer be involved in as many of the plays.
No, at this point ARod is a 3B for the rest of his career (at least until he becomes a full-time DH.) The Yankees are going to have to make a tough call at some point in the near future. Jeter is up for a new contract, and while I can't see them not paying him, they're going to have to tell him "Look Derek, we love you, the fans love you, but you don't have the skills to play short anymore. It's time to look at an outfield position." Left field is probably the only real choice. Unfortunately, all the other infield positions are taken by guys who aren't going to be moved, and Posada is the future DH. Of course, Jeter in left removes Carl Crawford from the mix (though I'm starting to get the feeling he's out anyway.) It's going to be a cramped outfield too. Swisher isn't leaving RF. Gardner and Granderson will be battling for center if Jeter moves. Then of course there's the hole left at short. Not defensively, but offensively.
I'd say Cano is far too big to be a SS. He was a 3B before ARod came to town, so he was switched in the minors to play 2B. The future shortstop for the Yankees isn't going to be anyone currently with the team, unless Russo suddenly becomes a superstar.
I'd like either one, but I'd prefer Lee. I don't think Seattle's ready to trade Lee yet, but being a UFA his value is probably not as high as Oswalt (having control over him for a couple of years) making him more desirable to me. IMO, he's a little bitter about the way Philly jettisoned him off Seattle in favor of Halladay and he's a lefty so those are 2 huge reasons I prefer Lee myself.
Hahaha, I almost jokingly wrote that! I figured too many people would turn that into an argument as though I were serious though, and didn't feel like hearing it. Lee is the better option if you can get him. That said, I doubt he'll be traded this year. He's looking at a very nice payday in free agency, and to get him a team would have to give up good prospects without the guarantee of an extension.
ha ha no but i did get myself thrown out of Citi Field for the first time on saturday night.got right back in and sat in the 1st row in front of Chad the ballboy right field side. good times good times
