Ok, he has been inactive for a while but 390!!! C'mon man... watch your diet!

I now know who to root for in the Rex vs Woody vs Jenkins competition... he needs to get down to 350 asap with those knees...

    Rotoworld:

Kris Jenkins said he weighs 390 pounds right now and wants to get down to 360 before training camp.
Jenkins' size is understandable considering he's coming off a torn ACL. The bigger concern is that knee, which appears to be progressing nicely. Jenkins even said he wants to participate in June's minicamp -- a lofty goal for someone that had ACL surgery just six months ago.

It's dumb as hell to get worked up over an injured nose tackle's off-season weight.

doesnt surprise me a whole lot.

the guy has a shit ton of muscle mass and with inactivity he puts on more weight.

hell the guy is aroun 360 when hes in good playing shape. only natural that if you cut his knee and leave him to rehab hes gonna balloon.

ill worry about it when i see him having trouble staying on the field.

when your frame is that big you lose and gain weight in huge swings. especially as a professional football player.

can't blame the jets for not taking jospeh, and you know how big a supporter I am of Linval.

At 29, with Wilson staring us in the face, no way we could pass him up. Then Joseph was drafted before our next pick, nothing we could do about it...

He needs to get 350, or he wont play the entire season due to his injuries in both legs.
Anyway his replacements last year were amazing, and I dont expect him to play as much as he was on schedule to last year.

This. It's not like we're talking about Shonn Greene here...

Jenks will play well at 350, 375, or 390. It really doesn't matter.

There's a section in Tim Green's book The Dark Side Of The Game where he talks about linemen and their caloric intake during the season and offseason. I can't remember the figures exactly, but the average total calories was something close to what Michael Phelps would take in daily.

These guys are huge, they work their bodies to the limit as a job, and as such they need a ton of fuel to keep their body from breaking down. But when they are not able to work out on a consistent basis, their body is so conditioned to taking in that level of fuel that they have a terrible time curbing it. It's why most linemen balloon up to sickening weights when they first retire.

Jenkins is a pro but he has had weight issues before, one of those times it stemmed from an ACL in the other knee. He's probably have trouble getting down to playing weight, and if I was going to guess, I'd say he probably won't get down to 360 until August as the earliest.

dunno who that is, but it's true with his injuries he cant play at that weight. he will be at a much higher risk of getting re-injured.

The more you weigh, the quicker you lose weight.

    He can do this.
