Pelfrey and Nieve did nothing to be unhappy about either.

C'mon now lol. They've both been great, but we do have some talented guys on this team. I'm lovin the hustle I'm seeing out of our players as well. Davis, Barajas, Wright, Francouer, Reyes, Bay, Pagan. These guys are all gamers.

Lol yeah I think it was him.

I re-watched the whole scene at the plate on my DVR and it was pretty hilarious. As Barajas made his jump at the plate Cora came in with some sort of super late-ass jump and tried grabbing him by his shoulder. It looked mad goofy. Jason Bay had this really funny look of constipation etched on his face as he was jumping around at the plate. LOL i really hope a gif of that whole thing pops up on the net.

After walkoff HR losses in Colorado and Cincinnati, this win feels real good.

Good thing Blanco didn't catch Pelfry tonight!

True, although Blanco has been great so far.

Who would have thought the Barajas move would have looked good so far? I'm not anticpating him blasting 8 HRs in May or June but he does have some power and he seems to have adjusted well to NL pitching.

Ike played an awesome game last night (I love when left coast teams play the Mets cause I actually get to watch) but that catch was fantastic. Wright isn't hitting at as high of an average as normal but he seems to have found the power again. He's looking like a potential 30 HR guy again and if Beltran can somehow be productive you'll have to think we'll be in the mix at the end of the year for a WC spot.

That being said I have some fears about Johan, hopefully last outing was an aboration and we won't ever see that again. Pelfrey seemed to regain his composure after a rough outing which makes me happy. You have to think that we're going to need to grab another quality arm if we are serious about contending though. I'd be willing to take a chance on Carl Pavano for a half year rental.

Keith Hernandez: "Leadoff walks, most times, find a way to score."

Wrong. I've actually looked at the data, and the scoring rate after leadoff walks is virtually identical to the scoring rate after leadoff singles or leadoff hit by pitches.

Why is it that no one tells announcers these simple facts?

Im sure jerry knows a lot more about baseball than me, but am I the only one who absolutely hates the way he uses this bullpen? Let Santana finish out the inning. Call me old-fashioned (which wouldnt make sense im only 20) but i just feel like you should leave it up to the starter in that situation. Bring somebody in the ninth, but with 2 outs, let santana do his work. Hopefully these words will not be prophetic.

This is what im talking about, I cant stand this constant in and out with the bullpen, nieve for one guy? Santana couldn't have closed out this inning?

I hate the way Jerry uses the bullpen too. Does he want Nieve to pitch in 103 games this year? Is he trying to make his arm fall off? I don't have an issue with pulling Johan to put in a righty to face the right handed hitting Whiteside, but give Nieve a break. What is Mejia doing up if you're not going to use him when it matters? Either send him down to AA so he can learn to be a starter or use him for the reason you brought him up, in important late inning situations.

Bringing in Feliciano to pitch to the lefty is the right move there. Too bad it didn't pan out. Hopefully, Mejia can get us to the bottom of the inning so the Mets can get a chance to put us on top.

Not for nothing, why doesn't Mejia pitch to Whiteside in the first place?? I'm convinced Manuel wants to pitch Nieve and Feliciano in every game. Mejia's got electric stuff, bring him in with the lead and the guy on 1st base. He's got better stuff than Nieve anyway.
