Benigno is such a dope. Why would you ask a rookie about the departures of players he has never played with??? How would Kyle Wilson know what the impact of the departure of Faneca? How is he supposed to answer questions about character issues with Holmes and Cromartie? He JUST GOT DRAFTED.
I was thinking the same thing. What is he going to know? He just got there. He barely knows anyone. Foolish bullshit that is typical of the SOJF that is Joe B.
It was stupid to be skeptical anyway. Who runs around questioning the validity of people's stories on here?
/signed I think Kyle handled himself well though. I certainly wasn't expecting that question to be asked. It seems like Joe B. does a stream of consciousness ramble at times.
It looks like he really enjoys that he was drafted by us. I think he'll be one of those players where we'll never question his dedication or his work ethic. I can't wait to see him on the field this year.
The one thing I was wondering, if you guys had the 1st or 2nd best pass defense last season, why did the Jets invest a 1st and 2nd in CB's this year? No other needs AT ALL?
Wilson was the best player on the board at 29 and fills the jets need for a competent corner away from revis. Cromartie may not be here after 2011 so Wilson will be groomed as a possible replacement. The jets secondary may have been the best in the league but that didn't stop manning from slicing it up in the second half of the AFC championship game
Yea, but Manning is probably the best pure passer the NFL has ever seen (this coming from a Marino fan). Moreover, whats this I continue to see about Cromartie not being here after 2011? Is this for real? I mean, is this just speculation on ganggreen part? I don't see how the FO would invest a 2nd round pick on a player with baggage and inconsistent performances for a 2 year lease.
Cromartie only has 1 year left on his contract so this is a contract year for him. If he doesn't perform we won't re-sign him for 2011. On top of that we already have some big name contracts coming up. We don't know what or if there will be a cap year next year. We invested in him because he is a good player, pro-bowl CB in 2007 - very talented and it isn't a 2nd rounder it is a 3rd rounder in 2011 unless he meets certain performance conditions. For someone at his talent level if only for a year it is a good trade. Rex loves corners. Why? Because he's a good coach. He knows that if his CB's can lock down WR's in man coverage he can blitz all day and mix coverages up on the QB. With Revis, Cromartie, and Wilson playing at a top level we can shut down 3 WR's. Which is exactly what we needed against Manning. The Jets know that the road to the Super Bowl is through the Colts. So if you can't beat Manning you can't get to the SB. If the Dolphins aren't thinking of that then they should be.
You have to understand Rex's defense. Its CB driven. He needs 3 CBs for it to run effectively. When Strickland went down, it wasn't the machine that it was when the defense was running at peak form. Wilson was the top player on the board, hands down. He should have never fallen past the top 20 picks. He also offers versatility to the punt return game as well. Cro was a 3rd rounder. Its a good risk to take, and could be a rental, but if he doesn't become the pro bowler he was, he can be signed for cheap and be a typical #2 CB with a young kid behind him to take his place, or be cut altogether. We really don't know until Cro plays out the season. The Jets had to invest in CBs, because Coleman, Lowery and Sheppard weren't impressive down the stretch. Lito was bad the moment he got a bruise on him, Coleman is a pure liability, and Lowery can only run with possession receivers. With the new arsenal, Rex can get that much more creative and leave the new CBs 1 on 1 with anyone. I don't mention Revis because he doesn't need mentioning. He's not a weak link.
