I think bitching about our "hot offseason acquisition" whos absolutely stinking it up in the cleanup spot is fair enough.
Saying he has sucked is fine. Agreeing with a troll that the Red Sox dumped him on the Mets and some nonsensical rant about how he is inconsistent when a quick look at his career stats proves otherwise isn't.
Let's keep going back to exhibit A to start any conversation about Mets logic and moves... the Angels agreed to pay all but $2 million of the $23.5 million remaining on Matthews' contract. WTF does that tell you about how bad a player is?
If you look at it from our end, it's clear to see that despite Matthews' deteriorating skills, he's just a cheap veteran stop-gap till Beltran is healthy and back. Of course, I would have started Pagan from the get go, which has pretty much been the result of the season so far, but I'm not Minaya.
Cheap, I'll agree with. Stop-gap til Beltran comes back healthy? Health is a punchline for the Mets so that's never a guarantee and when's he supposed to come back? June...maybe? So they've basically given up on1/3rd of the season at one of the most important spots in the lineup.
