I think the point is that if Sanchez can do it, he will do it. We all know he has a tremendous work ethic and Tanny has done a great job surrounding him with talented weapons. He's definitely improving mentally with all the hours he's spending watching tape. The one wild card is how long is it going to take Sanchez to catch up physically and develop chemistry with his new receivers?
Fins 22nd? I think we all can agree that's too low. This division is gunna be a slug fest this year...
Agree. Fins 6-10 MAYBE 7-9 if you get a lucky win. Matter of fact I'm calling 6-10 or worse for the rest of eternity for the Dolphags. That would be great if the Fins turned into the Lions of this division.
Don't pay any attention to them. I'm trying to salvage some karma. The phins have built a pretty solid team... but we're better!
I still think the Fins thin corp of Lb's and lack of true NT will kill them this year. There is a good chance they will be equal to or better than the Pats. I think the Jets are a little better (if Sanchez improves) but that's why they play the games.
We do have a young LB corps. I wouldn't call it thin after adding 6 LBs this offseason, but ya, Wake and Misi will be first time starters at OLB. As far as the not having a true NT, we aren't going to run a true 34, so a true NT wouldn't fit our scheme. We are going to a 1 gap 34, where the NT plays a 1 tech, the RDE plays the 3 Tech, and the LDE plays around the 5 outside the tackle. In this scheme, the DL are supposed to penetrate and get up field, similar to that of your typical 4-3 defense... instead of taking up blockers and trying to maintain 2 gaps. Starks is a perfect fit at the 1 tech...
i think the dolphins are well coached, and the addition of b.marhall really helps, but dansby is just replacing porter [who had 9.5 sacks for the dolphins in 09] you didnt replace taylor, [7 sacks] you got rid of the 'jet killer' ginn, and you have no qb. the dolphins season in 08 was good, but you only beat i believe 4 teams w/winning records that season, reality set in last season when you lost back too back home games too end the season too miss the playoffs, and finish under .500
What did the Phins do on defense?? They were pretty middle of the road on all categories- That BM deal really fucked the Phins in the long run.
Dansby isn't replacing Porter at all. Porter was a WOLB, Dansby is an ILB. Dansby is replacing Ayodele... who might have been the worst ILB in the league, lol. A major upgrade. Cameron Wake (6 sacks in a LOT less snaps) is replacing Porter. And we drafted JT's replacement at SOLB in Misi in the 2nd round. So, we greatly improved our ILBs, and got a lot younger (although less experienced) at OLB. We also added Mike Nolan at DC which shouldn't be overlooked in terms of improving our defense. The 1 gap system he is implimenting really fits our personnel well and now allows the DL to generate pressure as well as the OLBs. And if we have no QB, then neither do you. We both have young talented but unproven QBs... And in terms of how we finished the season... reality didn't set in... injuries did.
Power rankings are pretty useless once you get past the top 8 until you're at the bottom 2 or so. It's easy to see who the powerhouses are in any given season and it's not too hard to sort out the dead-end losers, everybody in the middle is up for grabs though until the breaks of the season have begun to sort themselves out. To make the point: 2009 - Jets are 23 in pre-season rankings and make the AFC Championship Game. 2008 - Cardinals are 21 in pre-season rankings and make the Super Bowl. Ravens are 24 in pre-season rankings and make the AFC Championship Game. 2007 - Packers are 24 in pre-season rankings and make the NFC Championship Game. 2006 - Saints are 29 in pre-season power rankings (this one is amazing) and make the NFC Championship Game. You have to go back to 2005 to find a final 4 that did not include a team ranked in the 20's somewhere in the preseason. That just tells you that once you're out of the top 8 or so everybody has an equal chance to get to the end of the season intact.
every team has injuries, we lost our second best defensive player [jenkins] and we didnt miss a beat, our qb did prove his worth when it mattered the most, the playoffs! i think the dolphins can be 9-7, but were talking about winning the division.
exactly what ive been saying all along, not just regarding henne. Sanchez had a great playoffs and should only improve with that experience and his new weapons... cant wait till the season starts especially when i have to watch the mets.
He's a locker room parasite. He's already had two head coaches try to get rid of him. How long will it take him make that three?
