I know it's early but I think the Jets should be higher. But please not only beat the Ravens but give them a good o ass kicking .The Bengals have the Ravens in week 2 and would to see the Ravens beaten and bruised.

I would think if they were going to suspend Edwards, they'd have done it by now...

Stupid rankings. Chargers are in front of us and they have gotten much worse and we spanked them in the playoffs.

Yup ^ is correct. Only reason I brought up the idea of Braylon getting suspended is because ive constantly seen it on here. Nothing official or anything.

It's tough to argue we should be ahead of any of those teams in the top seven, given that we're the only team in the top ten with a somewhat unproven commodity at quarterback.

Everybody likes Sanchez (I don't just mean Jets fans, I mean a lot of NFL people think he's got the goods), and granted he wasn't asked to produce too much last year, but the bottom line is that he didn't produce too much last year. If he hits the ground running this season, I could easily see the Jets being a top 3 power ranking pick after a couple weeks. If he struggles, the Jets will probably stick in the ~10 win category, even if every other area of the team is in fact improved.

Well (theoretically) they should be able to run the ball now. I agree though, we're better than at least half of the teams ahead of us in those rankings.

Everyone who is going off about TJ and Faneca needs to relax and realize we were 9-7 last year, not 13-3. Until we prove we're an elite team, I think our ranking is fair. Yes we had a nice playoff run and are young and have added some nice pieces, but this team was a hair away from being an 8-8 non-playoff team.

i disagree, we were an elite team last year w/a rookie qb, who cost us 3 games, he wont cost us 3 games this season, we could have easily been 11-5 last season.

Free started half the year at RT last year and played well. He's faster than Adams and less of a penalty machine. He should be fine.

    Top 10 should be:

    1. Colts- virtually everyone back, d brown has a year under his belt and will be very productive.. hughes will give their pass rush a little boost.
2.Saints- ESPN is right, losing sharper could be huge, he was the difference in a few games last year
3.Ravens- Ray Rice is becoming a super star, and now flacco finally has some receivers to throw to, alleviating some of the pressure off of one of the top defenses in the league.
4-Vikings- Brett's ankle is obviously the wild card here. with a strong D and great play makers in AP and Harvin, they would still be a top 10 team without him but probably not top 5. gerhart and AP could be the best 1-2 punch in the league if gerhart turns out to be a poor man's bus-type player like some scouts say.
5-Jets- a great offseason and an exciting finish to the season have given ganggreen nation legitimate super bowl aspirations, but #6's consistency, greene's durability, and potential chemistry issues are all things that could derail the campaign. for the record, i think the chemistry will be fine with rex manning the ship.
6-pats- big questions about the D after last year and following a so/so draft, if welker gets healthy, with the additions of price and hernandez, the offense could be as dangerous as ever considering brady will be 100%.
7-cowboys- adding dez bryant should make their offense lethal again, but as always, romo's juevos come playoff time and the D's knack for giving up big plays are huge concerns.
8-chargers- they play in the worst conference in football and are all but guaranteed a double digit win total. it's also all but guaranteed that they won't make it past the divisional round, as usual.
9-eagles-if kolb is really the next aaron rogers, things could be looking up for skeptical eagles fans after a solid draft. mcnabb was a great player for them, but maybe it was just time for them to move on after all.
10-bengals- the D was great last year, and now maybe the additions of the likes of gresham, shipley and bryant will compensate for a passing game that was desperately missing TJ and chris henry last year

just missing the top 10 for me were the g-men, falcons, dolphins, titans, and panthers (yes, the panthers, i think jimmy clausen will win the starting job and stabilize the position for a team that ranked 8th in total D last year and has 2 great running backs.)

I repeat what I have being saying for years. Power rankings are ridiculously stupid in a sport that has a playoff system and championships that are won on the field. Who cares???????

ESPN had the Saints at 19th in their 2009 preseason rankings.

ORT and OLT are two completely different animals. Damien Woody is a very good ORT because he's a great run-blocker and has the lead in his paints to be stout against the larger defenders you tend to find on the strong side of the defense (the RDE is big enough to handle being doubled by the ORT and TE, and the SAM needs to be big enough to jam TEs and handle in-line blockers). Woody would NOT be good on the left side as he lacks the quick feet to handle elite pass-rushers (they are usually put on the left side because this is the QBs blindside and a free-rush from there can result in a sack-force-fumble. Brick is great as an OLT because he's quick enough to dance and pass-protect against fast and athletic LDEs. Switch Brick and Woody and you have guys that are essentially playing out of position.

Free playing half the season at ORT means he has starting experience, which is good, but doesn't mean he'll be a successful. Considering Philly just took Graham with their 1st round pick and the Giants have a (healthy) stable of 4 good DEs, I'm thinking he's going to have his hands full in divisional games. Hell, even Orakpo is a force that has to be considered. I need to see him play well before I am ready to say "okay, Dallas is set on the OL."

But we weren't. That's what I'm saying. A bunch of teams could claim the same thing - "We COULD have been...", bottom line is we were 9-7 (8-8?) team and should not be treated like we were elite in 09.
