My lasting image of Faneca in a Jet uniform will be the division playoff game at SD on 4th and 1 during the timeout. They showed Faneca tightening up his shoelaces as if to get ready for a crushing collision that could knock someone's cleats off. I really appreciated that.

As for people using PFF as a reference, please stop. It's an awful, inaccurate site that should never be used.

Faneca may have not been the best pass blocker but he was solid for us and the time here wore our jersey we should be proud of him.

The reason the loss of Faneca will hurt us is not physically. It will hurt us because he brings tons of experience to the line day in and day out. Our o-line will go through some growing pains early this season.

I don't know what to think of this site. Aparently Tony Richardson was one of the worrst FB in the league, Dustin Keller was one of the worst TE in the game, and Shane Pohua is the but run stopper in the league. (Which makes sense seeing as there wasn't THAT much of a difference when Jenkins went down.)

I'll be proud of every play in which he participated...that didn't involve Sanchez throwing the football...or scrambling.

I'll never get that playcall. I don't care what the blocking scheme was or about the fact that he was supposed to hit a hot route right there. Why the fuck would you give Dwight Freeney a free, unblocked shot at your rookie QB? Twice?!

So if you want experience, why don't you suggest the Jets sign John Hannah????? When does experience turn into decline and then old? Why pay a player top dollar to provide leadership and advice? Isn't that what coaches are for. I've never heard so much BS about players being mentors and leaders to other players as I have on this board the past few months. You would think that NFL rosters are 90 players - one player plus his "mentor" - instead of 45. Let's face it - older players do NOT want to mentor younger players who then go out and take their jobs. Favre never mentored anybody and never will. Either did Montana. Faneca was let go for a reason. If you don't think that Tanny and Callahan and Ryan took everything into account, you are crazy. This was a planned, calculated football move.

And if Faneca is so wonderful and has so much to offer, why did the Cardinals only offer him a one-year deal?????? Why did most people say the Jets overpaid for him two years ago????

PFF is a terribly inaccurate website that makes it's own standards for recording stats, not the NFL's. I hate it when people reference that digital glob of birdshit.

When the Jets signed Faneca, they were coming off an awful year for the OL, and he took over without a doubt what had been the worst starting position the year before, turning it around, giving cohesion to the OL, and a steadying influence for Ferguson in particular.

But that was tow years ago, and his contract was too big. He had to go.
