Another thing I didn't see posted........ The Jets are moving to a more pass oriented offense. Gone are the 600 rushes in a season. Faneca was so bad in a limited amount of passing plays one can only extrapolate how much worse he will be with an extra 20% of passing plays in addition to an extra year of wear and tear on his body. This move had to be done or next season Sanchez will be horizontal and not because he is banging drunk college girls............
2010: 4 o-line vets and one rookie (Slaussen) on the left side. not bad. 2011: 4 o-line vets and one road grader (Vlad) on the right side. not bad. 2012-2017: best, youngest o-line in the nfl. not bad.
I would have thought Faneca's response should have been "I cried all the way to the bank" [with my $5m]
Yes b/c our QB was beat up last year and that run game, man was it awful. Come on, we all know Faneca is not an all-pro anymore but he's still a solid pro and we got cheap here over $2 mil. A case can easily be made for getting rid of all the guys we got rid of this offseason BUT we lost alot of great locker room guys and leaders. I guarantee you it's not sitting well in the Jets locker room right now. This game is about more than just talent. I think we might be more talented than a year ago(factoring in progression of young players) but that doesn't mean we will be better. The jets are taking a big gamble- I hope it pays off.
This is embarrassing, sorry. Jason Taylor replaces nobody notable and you THINK we MIGHT be more talented? Kyle Wilson, Anotonio Cromartie and Donovan Warren replace Lito Sheppard, Donald Strickland and Drew Coleman and you THINK we MIGHT be more talented? Santonio Holmes replaces David Clowney and you THINK we MIGHT be more talented? And I'll even give you that McKnight and LT versus Jones and Leon is a wash, even though I prefer what we have now by a good bit. And we got rid of the biggest liability on our O-line. Feely is very average, and he's being replaced with a very talented kicker.
From everything I've heard and read, LT is not a vocal locker room leader at all. All of his former teammates say he was a leader by example. TJ was by all accounts a vocal leader. That said, the Jets don't need LT to be the vocal leader type. That's why they drafted Sanchez. He's a natural. And having Nick Mangold in there doesn't hurt, either.
Where did you hear this? Everywhere I have read, the Jets are on the hook for that money regardless if he signs or not.
huh? how so. I hate when people have nothing to contribute post lines like that. Mcknight and LT vs. Leon and Jones is not a wash, it's in favor of leon and TJ. On the Ol we are less talented. We are less talenetd at S. We have a K who is worse than a year ago. feely is the best K we have ever had, he's better than average. Jason Taylor has never stepped up in a big game or big spot in his life and he's old. Take off the green goggles and evaluate things objectively. Are we more talented? I said we were but this game is about more than just talent.
LT led the league's most talented team for a 5 year stretch to zero SBs and the one time they made the title game he was HURT!
Yeah but do we really have a better alternative ? I don't think Ducasse or Slauson is the solution for us right now.
if the locker room has their panties in a bunch, it's partly due to the guys who still have jobs are now looking over their collective shoulders. the tree has been shook. feeley, rhodes, leon, faneca, ?, ?, ?. rule 1: never diss the jets organization rule 2: never fuck with the FO rule 3: never ask for more money than you are worth rule 4: leave it on the field or stay home this is the new jets!
At the very least there are a bunch of Jets veterans who now know they can be replaced. Probably not a bad thing.
