I'll admit to being one that is upset we ignored or defense after the first round. The heart of this team, and the key to it's long term success, is it's defense. Given the obscene defensive talent that was still on the board in the 4th I don't think this was a great draft after the first two rounds. I'd give the draft an A for the first two picks, and a D for the last two as in the 4th we essentially drafted Leon Washington MKII so in essence we spent our 4th, 6th and 7th for a late fifth early 6th FB, a similar FB could have been obtained as a UFA. The DLine talent that was available when we drafted in the 4th is very unlikely to be found. Oh well, In Tanny I'll trust, I won't pretend to know more than Rex and Tanny and they have good track records, but I have a bad feeling about it.
This Video just made me like Mcknight even more :breakdance:
Him working with Mark looks even better
I don't like the trade.......I don't like the pick. I swear I would rather have the f'n punter Zoltan Mesko.
What don't you like about Joe McKnight? He's bigger and more versatile than Leon Washington. Most scouts consider him to be the best receiver in this running back class.
.....and 6 years younger. Sometimes I don't understand all the love for LW....let it go people. I bet Sanchez peeed his pants when they drafted McKnight.
McKnight also doesn't have a metal rod in his leg. Oh yeah, and he can actually play football right now, unlike Washington, who can only run in straight lines. C'mon guys. Leon's best attribute was his cutting ability and he can't even do that right now. He had little to no value because of his health. The Jets improved this team during the draft. We got younger at two key positions: fullback and left guard and we got a top ten talent at 29.
I've got a feeling that a few years from now we're going to be talking about Joe the same way we used to talk about Leon. Get him more carries!
Another issue being lost in the discussion on this.... Keep your nose clean and moth quite and deals get done, but Air your dirty laundry, skip workouts, cause on feild or in locker room problems and your ass is out the door (Rhodes, Leon, TJ, Chris Baker, Faneca who is a known Malcontent). We this FO talks about the atmosphere of the team they mean it. If they can remove the cancers before they become huge issues they do it.
Yeah, that's great but I can see where other people are coming from considering we only had 4 picks. It kind of sucks that we're already without a 2nd/3rd round pick next year.
This is the Jets draft mentality as I understand it: Identify the players you want in the first four rounds, then use the remaining picks to get them. If you have anything left over in the remaining rounds, call it a bonus. That's a sound strategy! If the league was chock full of fifth, sixth and seventh round superstars, I might object. But it's not, so I won't. Drafting four players a year is just fine, as long as they're the right four. Our 2010 Draft netted us Braylon Edwards, Kyle Wilson, Vlad Ducasse, Joe McKnight, Santonio Holmes, John Conner and a one-year cornerback rental. That's an obscenely good draft.
Picture this offensive set: Sanchez in the shotgun, LT and McKnight split backs, Holmes and Edwards on the outside and Cotchery in the slot working on a #3 corner GL defending that
