Not saying you are wrong, but maybe the criticisms only get "leaked" when the player is on the block?
Players don't always accept that. And we've also been more active than most teams usually are during the offseason. TJ, Faneca, LW. Those are stand-up guys, that many of their teammates respected. Not saying we haven't been making the right moves, but as a player, it'd make me wonder if I was nothing more than a name to my organization.
All I know about this guy is that he flat out destroys people when he lead blocks. The guy's a head hunter and I'm sure Rex Ryan loved that about him. For now though, he's going to be a major contributor on our kickoff and punt coverage teams. I can also see him being a hell of a blocker on kickoffs. This guy may not even be our fullback of the future. It makes sense that he'll take over for Richardson when he retires, but to me, this move is about special teams.
I do like that Faneca was told he'll be cut on Monday, rather than immediately cut. Maybe some team will jump on him when they don't like the 7th round offerings. Still hope, right? Please? ...please?
nfl network just reported that the Jets are done in the draft. Did Tanny call it a day? Or is NFLNet just saying that because we have no more draft picks?
We lost Ryan Fowler and Larry Izzo as well. I believe that Fowler took over for Jason Trusnik when he was traded to Cleveland. Izzo used to be a very good special teamer, but it's time for him to hang 'em up. Lance Laury was an under the radar free agent signing that made a lot of sense for this team. He'll fill on the ST linebacker spots, while Conner will fill the other.
If our rep took his headphones off and walked off of the floor, that would probably be a good indication. I haven't heard anyone mention that yet.
It's officially time for the young guys to take over as vets. This is a tough pill to swallow for Brick and Mangold. BUT, this propels them into the veteran leadership position. Keep this in mind.. IF Slausen is as good as Callahan says, he will be the LG. Leaving Vlad a year to develop as RT. That's a pretty young line that will be in place for years. Personally, I like that.
