Oh I agree but both Woody and Vlad have the versatility that Faneca didn't have. Could be a switcharoo at times.
Yeah but it is easier to play guard than to play tackle. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose and make Ducasse's job more difficult.
Yeah, I don't see a re-sign. We'd have to pay him that much, which I suppose could mean $5 million spread out over 2 seasons, but I'd think Faneca would want to explore his other options first. I mean, he could sign with someone for $2 million this season and STILL make $5 million for this one season because of Woody's obligation. Doesn't make much sense for him to re-sign for less, nor do we want him on the roster past this season at the latest.

Maybe this is true. It's hard to believe that we couldn't get any value for him. We have to pay him $5mil if we cut him why not trade him and pay $6 mil off plus a little more for a pick?
^Could be that. It could also be that no one wanted to give up a draft pick so they could pay a 34 year old LG who is clearly on his last legs $5million.
If he does have the no trade clause then maybe he just kept vetoing any tade or maybe teams didn't want to take on his salary, hell we didn't.
Could we have offered to pay some/all of the $5 million so that another team would have been more inclined to want him? Also, if he resigns, that wouldn't allow us to sign another FA, would it?
No, we can't sign another FA for him. We're also paying him all of the $5 million, minus whatever another team signs him for.
Don't know, but if his no trade clause is real than it looks like he just vetoed every other team out of spite. No. No it doesn't
He is just going to sign for the minimum. No team in their right mind is going above 5.25 mill. So just stick to the team that cut him.
I wouldn't mind drafting Mitch Petrus later, too--he's a more plug-and-play immediately kind of guy, tons of SEC experience, even if he doesn't have the upside Ducasse does.
I agree it's the right move, but he's played extremely well as a Jet. Sad to see him go if he doesn't resign.
Teams seem to be able to turn there depth Olineman into starters all the time . Saints just inserted Jonathan Goodwin (A former Jet) to replace the hurt starting center for mostly the whole season and they won a Superbowl.
Why would we resign him? Then would've we be paying him all the money we owed him from his old contract, plus a new contract? If they had any plans to bring him back, they would've tried to restructure.
Good for you. You wanted that fat slob Cody who is a one dimensional player? Yea, you really know what your talking about here...:shit:
I love the pick, but that's absurd... He is the future at his position, but I don't think you'll find anyone who feels he's a surefire immediate starter. I'm certain he'll be dominant at this level, but I hope to hell he has a very rapid learning curve. He may need to be ready to start this season, and the fact that you think everyone saw him as an immediate starter "outside of TGG" shows just how little you actually know.
