Wright signed a little over a month ago. I'm sure the coaching staff has seen plenty of him at film studies and at voluntary workouts to know what they have.

It certainly wouldn't be smart to pass up a top tier 34 end prospect like Jared Odrick, but he won't be there. Besides Suh, Odrick's the only big time 34 end in this draft.

However, they might pass on someone like Corey Wootton, Alex Carrington, or Tyson Alualu in the second if they feel they can get similar production out of Wright.

Next year, this team will have a shot at a ton of top tier end prospects.

All right. My first impression was just like others - he's but a TC fodder, a JAG, a fuckoff.

Well. I am impressed after reading his scout report - his report isn't a scout report of a fringe player. It does keep saying how raw he is in various aspect of the game, but from the physical standpoint, there's no denying that he belongs to either low 1st or high 2nd. Strong enough for two-gap responsibility, with loose hip and good short-burst - all of that with wide frame. Is there anything else that's desirable? Oh, sure. He can learn the position, learn some new technique, develop some stamina and all that - but that's what the TC and coaching staff are for, no?

    :rofl::rofl::metal::rofl:

    good one!

now back to this kid whatever his name is:

1- the scouting report highlites a few negatives, mainly hand placement and he has to stay low and block low or he gets beat. don't we have the best o-line coach in the nfl (name?)?

2- he tends to burn out and take plays off.....shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't bunk with gholston.

Bill Callahan but that's the wrong side of the line.

    That wasn't him.

Im interested to see what he can do. Like gholston you cant teach size and strength which they both have its everything else they lack. If rex can get him working in his system i see him being better then Devito.

He was signed to sell PSL's. He has cried before, and will be the emotional one going through a crisis through Hard Knocks. Everyone needs a good sob story.

I know you're trying to be funny, but Manuel Wright was the player that cried. If you read through the thread, it's been mentioned about one hundred times. It got old really fast.

hopefully with this signing we will be able to skip picking somebody in the front 7. I really hope this team picks Taylor Mays because we desperately need Safety help.

Mark My Words..... Taylor Mays is the next Ed Reed

We need his coverage skills and big play making abilities on this team

Well, hopefully he turns into something usefull. If it means the Jets pass Odrick this season but get Heyward next season(somehow) then I'll be all for it.

Ok I will try and be somewhat constructive with this... Mays is a stellar athlete, he is fast, he is strong, he hits like a truck, but Mays did not display the ability to create turnovers at USC.

Mays interception totals at USC 5, he also had 1 in the senior bowl. That means he totaled 6 interceptions in 4 years of college, plus an all-star game.

In comparison Ed Reed had 21 interceptions in 4 years, 17 of which came in his junior and senior seasons.

Reed was a true ballhawk coming out of college, Taylor Mays has shown a propensity to fail to make big plays.

Doesn't mean Mays won't be successful at the next level, but the chances of him becoming the next Ed Reed are so slim its not even worth trying to calculate it.

I can't give someone an infraction for lack of knowledge, otherwise I'd be handing them out constantly!!:)

That's a very suspicious looking name....I'd be surprised if that wasn't someones dual identity.
