he might be the biggest sleaze in NFL history. rape is one of, if not the lowest things a human can do, and big ben gets accused of it like its his job. i mean there has to be some truth to it. too many coincidences.

That is such a trivial slap on the wrist in some ways that seems worse than doing nothing - it reads like "being a sexual predator is so serious we are going to suspend you for two games while continuing to pay you huge sums of money and then we can all act like you have been punished and get back to business as usual".

Two games? Wow. More proof that the NFL is all about $. The girl still claims she was raped, right?

Yup...Holmes gets 4 games for a little weed, Ben gets one game per rape.

It has to go up with all of this stuff leaking out now...pun intended.

The cop that took the first report and interviewed Ben initially has resigned now.

it is more than trivial, it reveals that either the NFL doesn't think anything happened but simply wants to publicly appear sympathetic, or they know he did what he was accused of but want to sweep it under the rug.

IMO, either he didn't do what he is accused of, and thus his behavior doesn't warrant a suspension just because he was out having some fun, or he did do what he is accused of and he warrants a significant suspension. but there simply is no middle ground if the NFL wants to address this situation honestly.

Dude, check out the article on ESPN.

And in the D.A.'s press conference, he sounded plenty p!$$ed...

The NFL is skating by this.

    I totally agree.

I think he's f*cked because he paid her off, and the argument people are making of "HE WASN'T CHARGED OR CONVICTED OF A CRIME!!11!" doesn't mean anything in that case.

Goodell and the Rooney's are seeing all of the details, which are horrifying from a PR standpoint (multiple people trying to stop it, bodyguards denying them access to their friend who was forced into the bathroom with Ben, etc) so I don't think he gets 1-2 games.

The more I see, the more I'd be surprised if he was still a Steeler after all of this, honestly.

I thought in cases like this even if the victim doesn't want to bring charges, the DA still has pursue. Remember when that singer Rihanna got her face beat in by her turd boyfriend? She wanted to drop the charges and not have it go through to the end, but they said no and still went after him (maybe because it already in progress?). That' why I'm a little confused here, and maybe should read the latest - which I haven't, because it started to annoy me. Also, why aren't those cops being charged with obstruction? They also aided and abetted a crime from the sound of it and they're not in legal hot water?

It's unbelievably suspicious. Now the cop who first conducted the investigation has resigned from the police force, in part because he made disparaging remarks about the accuser. It's like the investigators want the woman to be painted terrible light, only no one seems to be buying it, the media included.

Couple that with the fact that Ben's bodyguards are paid employees of various Pennsylvania law enforcement agencies, and the whole situation reeks.

The other odd thing to me, is why the D.A. didn't put this before a Grand Jury....

It's definitely weird, and the suspension is also totally lame. I'm not so sure any team is even going to want him, but then again... Anyway, bust because he's skating, it won't stop him. People who have the kind of violence in them don't turn it off like a light switch. They can't, for the same reason sc*mbag pedophiles can't be fixed. He'll inflict it on someone else. Give it time.

That reminds me of a spot on NPR yesterday. They were discussing the Catholic Church issues with a psychiatrist who 'evaluates' sex criminal priests. When it was pointed out that pedophilia is uncurable, the shrink hemmed and hawed "Well, uh, we define pedophilia differently than the law. We treat by suppressing the urges and getting offenders to see things from a child's perspective. Yes, though, the urges can never be suppressed.'

When you couple the urges with the immunity that Ben's wealth and status bring, it's a time bomb.

Opinions aside, at first I thought he wouldn't even get suspended for a game. Now I wonder which uniform he'll be wearing this year. I don't think the Rooney's will get rid of him at all cost, but I think if the right offer came along he might be outta there.

No way, then they might actually improve. It would ruin the sheer joy I get out of watching them fail. Plus I wouldn't get to watch Fatty Russell suck at life.

I could possibly see them trading him to St. Louis or Buffalo (which would make the AFCE CRAZY) I say they'd have to give them a 1st and 3rd this year and next years 1st.
