Does this situation with Leon bother anyone like it bothers me? This guy was our BEST offensive player just 2 years ago. I don't want to lose this guy. When he's healthy, he's unbelievable. Losing him would be a HUGE loss for us. For some reason I'm sensing that a lot of Jets fans don't give a rats ass. I don't get it.
Not anymore. LaDainian Tomlinson will fill in quite nicely. We're losing a hell of a kick returner, but Brad Smith was pretty impressive last year. I honestly don't give a rat's ass about Leon Washington. He's negotiated his way out of a long term deal with this team. He won't be brought back in 2011 anyway. I'd like to see us trade him away for pick to at least get some value out of him, but that probably won't happen anymore. I got excited for a second. Screw this guy. He's refusing to sign his tender and he didn't accept a reasonable contract. I think it's hilarious that he demanded a contract similar to Jones-Drew's.
I thought he signed..... Btw i think either his wife and/or his agent is keeping him from us. We offered him a exceptional contract last year only to have it thrown back. Swallow your pride and sign the 2nd round tender.
I officially hate this thread title. I really wish he would just sign the fucking tender already so the Jets can trade him.
Re: Leon WASHINGTON!!! There's no reason for him to sign his tender before Thursday. He got a fair value, and he'll hold out until someone bites. At that point, all we an hope for is that he realizes where his value is at--or isn't at--and decides to take a fair deal. Since that seems unlikely, I'll hope we get the most we can out of him this season. I agree with you that he's probably gone afterward.
sorry, this might be a stupid question but what happens after the two days are up and he hasnt signed the dotted line?
I'm pretty much resigned to the notion that Leon will be traded no or before draft day - probably for a 4th round pick.
I'm kind of excited to see what Leon can do this year if he stays with the team. A lot of our skill position players are playing for contracts this year, so hopefully they work their asses of and help us get a ring. Teams used to be able to focus their attention on Leon because he was our only real offensive threat. Now we have threats all over the goddamn place... Leon might get some room to make big plays for us this year.
Nothing. He can't be signed by another team to an offer sheet after Thursday. We get exclusive rights to deal with him, and he has to sign his tender before June 1st or we can then revoke his tender and only have to offer him 110% of his previous year's salary. There's no way he goes past June 1st without signing the tender.
