No No im not saying greatest team ever, or even the greatest team in the nfl. Greatest team is ONLY something you can bestow after the fact. Im talking from a pure talent, pure potential standpoint. As far as I know there is no other team who has the talent and personal on their team making them CAPABLE (not realistically happening) of being ranked 1st in passing offense, rushing offense, rushing defense, and passing defense. And I highly doubt theres any other team even close to as many guys we have with a realistic shot at making the probowl as us next year. This Jets team is CAPABLE of more than any team in the NFL flat out straight up without a doubt. Does it make it the best team, of course not. You have to execute. Only history will judge how great this team is, but anyone would have to be insane if they don't think the Jets are destined for big things soon.
With all the acquisitions going on in the off-season, I PRAY that they all stay healthy through out the season because with injuries, we can't go any where.
Exactly. This time last year we were trying to figure out where our franchise QB was going to come from and how to keep our defence off the field. And with a great motivator like Rex hopefully no one starts believing their own hype. Or they'll be shipped off to Arizona.
This thread is ridiculous. Please shut it down. How can you compare a team that has not played a game yet with any other team?????? Let's play the season before anyone starts crowing about talent. I pray this thread isn't resurrected in January to a lot of laughs from fans of other teams.
Ahhh let these guys fight it out. It has been such a long time for Jets fans to be this excited over a team. It is kind of a funny social experiment actually. It is like a Concentration Camp survivor finally getting a ham sandwich, chicken if they are kosher.
Bad timing, since it's Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Rememberance Day). But still funny. And I agree - we deserve a little fun for once!
Yeah I know, I have been around survivors for years and I know too much about it (the Holocaust). It was most certainly in poor taste as is most of my nonsense here.......... That said I believe stuff said without malice is ok........... besides...........Lol it was the most hyperbolic, whacked out comparison I could think of.
tough to say... see me after the season for the verdict on who was more talented. nobody knows what a number of guys on this team are capable of.
Yeah. Rereading my post, my tone was FAR more serious than I intended. Plus, technically you posted in on the 13th!
I don't think its that ridiculous. I never asked which team is better, I asked which team is more talented. Those are 2 different definitions. You do not have see Antonio Cromartie suit up in green and white to see how much more talented he is then say Otis Smith. I think you and some others misunderstood where I was going with this.
Until they prove it this year, I will say 1998. Talent looks good on paper, let's see all this come together on the field.

The 2010 Jets do not exist yet, at least on the field they don't. Paper talent wise and name recognition, 2010. We have to see how all this gels together on the field. Bump this back when it's relevant.
I don't think the OL comparison is anywhere near as evenly matched as you seem to think. That 98 offensive line was an average run-blocking Offensive line at best. (They were exposed as such in championship game against Denver when we couldn't balance our attack even a little bit) Now, they were probably better at pass-blocking, but the discrepancy in run-blocking is far too great. Our current O-line takes it easily, IMO.
the real question should be, which team is more talented, the 99 jets or the 10 jets? dont forget the 99 team was more talented than the 98 team, if vinny doesnt get hurt in week 1, we would have played the rams in the super bowl.
2010 has the talent but 1998/99 had the coaching staff just on offensive side of ball u have dan henning, charlie wiess, todd haley breaking down the opposing teams defense on film looking for weakness. put that trio in now with the talent on offense we have now and lot out we break the nfl records for points scored
