One of our most beloved characters of all time had "issues" with gender identity.

Yet millions of children watched his cartoons.

How about you, got a morality clause in your contract?

Firstly, as somebody here noted, there isn't any issue with Santonio Holmes beating women. He's mainly been in trouble for smoking pot. So, who gives a crap.

Second, expecting a pool of, I dunno, a thousand or so guys between the ages of 22 and 35 to never get in trouble with the law is just dumb. Pick a group of random males in that age group and watch them as closely as the press watches NFL players, and you're gonna have some dumbass behavior. Especially if those men all happen to be pretty wealthy.

Cromartie's issues are at least real, having lots of kids with lots of women suggests maybe a little bit of a judgment problem, but as Charles Barkley always pointed out, not all of these guys signed up to be role models. Football players are grown men just like anybody else, and if you think they should be subject to firing for anything that gets them negative press, ask yourself if you'd appreciate your boss having that jurisdiction over your own personal life.

I guess it comes from him beating women..I think Marshall is a saint compared to this guy.
Google "santonio holmes women beater" and you get about 12,000 hits.

He also admits to being a drug dealer in high school. Not sure what else he has done that maybe he didn't caught for.

He had three kids (I think with three different women) before he even entered the NFL..sound familiar?

I think you'll get plenty of valid arguments against this statement pretty soon.

Who knows what else he's done. But to that point, who knows what anyone's done that they haven't been caught for?

I'm cheering for him to catch a football and run it as far down the field as possible, not asking him to babysit my kid.

Besides I probably couldn't afford him.

Don, why do you insist on earning the Least Knowledgeable Poster award every single year? Don't you know that there are plenty of n00bs that wouldn't mind getting that one every once in a while?

So many musicians have drug problems and bastard kids but I still listen to their music. As for him being a drug dealer in high school im sure tons of people here and in general smoked weed in high school. If hes dealing harder drugs I doubt he was doing them because not to many crack heads become nfl players. All in all in the NFL there are tons of players with personal problems and as long as they produce and stay on the field WELCOME TO THE NEW YORK JETS.

    What he said.

"Character Issues" boils down to being in the public eye and getting caught. Save the morality crap for Sunday school.

Is it "moral" to pay to watch young men concuss themselves and each other and thereby shorten their lives as healthy adults? Football players are prostitutes of violence, yet we get morally indignant when a select few take it home with them.

    How about this philosophy?

If they are a locker room cancer, then its a problem.

Pete Kendall doesn't go to clubs and live the pimp life, but he sure was a cunt in the locker room.

Deion Sanders lived a crazy life during his career, but his teammates loved him.

See the difference? Good, now go spread the good word of Revis Christ.

By the way, since Don wants to use the number of Google hits to determine who is a saint...

To me it's more of a matter of if there was Prision or Jail time involved more than if there was civil litigation involved. And if there was Prison or Jail time involved to me it depends abit on what the crime was. If it was Possession of Pot, I let it slide (I don't toke or drink but believe both should be legal), on the other hand Driving under the influence is another matter and i'm less tolerant of that, and if the Jail time is for a violent act i'm even less tolerant.

But civil litigation i tend to ignore by and large, we live in a country that will sue for just about anything if one party believes they can get money out of the other, whether events actually happened or not.

But that all said when it comes to a football team, I select players who perform on the field, not who I'd want dating my daughter or having a drink with (if I drank). But again there are limits, you serve prison time as far as I'm concerned your no longer fit to be in the NFL.

Actually, I double-checked his retard verbatim search of 'santonio holmes women beater' and it did come back with over 11k hits. But since only retards would call him a 'women beater', I used the legal term for it - 'santonio holmes domestic+abuse' and 'brandon marshall domestic+abuse'.

Man, this Google morality thing is fun.

I could see the concern if we were signing these guys to big long term contracts, but were not. If these guys turn out to assholes we can just decide to not sign them next year. Not to mention if we play the off season real quiet we can get a nice amount of comp picks towards the draft.

The difference is if i did something to warrent getting fired at work i would be. My job doesn't have salary caps and million dollor contracts that could set their company back years if i don't produce.
My company made no investment in me other then my last paycheck. NFL teams invest millions in players and if those players screw up in their personal lives it hurts the franchise due to suspensions etc.
NASCAR does it just for that reason. They want to protect their product just like the commisioner wants to protect the NFL.If Holmes gets busted again for drugs he's automatically gone for a year. What protection does the franchise that gives him a big contract with gauranteed money have if this does happen?
Look at Rothlisberger,if he had been convicted of rape and sent to jail how many years does that set back the Pittsburgh Steelers?
There are too many malcontents in this league. Something has to be done to make them tow the line.

My boss should have no say about what i do in my personal life unless it directly effects my ability to do my job a therefore hurts the company.Violating NFL policy hurts the team therefore the owners have every right to protect themselves.
