Revis, D. Harris, Mangold and Ferguson are the cornerstones of this team!

There is no CBA beyond this year. Every team is holding back to see what happens with the new CBA negotiations after this season. Has anyone gotten a huge contract extension yet?

They aren't holding back. The rules for the uncapped year also include rules that make it hard to impossible to restructure a players contract this offseason. The uncapped year actually hurts the players a lot more then the owners.

Yeah, that's all well and good, but here's the thing.

Darrelle Revis deserves to be the highest paid cornerback in the league, probably the highest paid defensive player in the league.

David Harris is going to need a huge contract as well, somewhere on the level of Jon Beason's or Patrick Willis'.

Nick Mangold deserves to be the highest paid center in the league.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is already a very good left tackle who has demonstrated two things: he improves every year and he never gets injured.

So, that's four players that are going to command top-level contracts. It's not going to be as easy as "Get it done, Tanny." One or more of these guys is going to need to take a major discount, or else one or more of these guys won't be Jets in a couple of years.

On the money Miami. Pay him. He is the most underated Jet on this team. LT's like Brick do not come along every year and after a few years learning his craft I rate him the best in the league. Sanchez is in a good place with Brick looking after his bones.

2011: Mangold, Harris, Braylon, Cromartie, Leon
    2012: Brick
    2013: Revis

Tannenbaum is going to have one hell of a job depending on the CBA

What are the chances of there being no salary cap reintroduced?

    here's the silver lining.

we are worried about keeping 6 or 7 'keystone players' that define the core of the jets while many teams only have 1 or 2 'keystone players' (manning, brady, ocho cinco, TO, etc).

the point is, we have A TON of marquee players, not just one or two. So, losing even half of them still leaves us better off than most teams.

plus, our marquee players came from 'somewhere', so they can all be replaced by tanny and the draft. you don't just 'luck into' 7 great players, and the next great players are just waiting to join the team.

They're important players on the team but I wouldn't equate them to the likes of Brady, Manning, and company. Revis is the only one I would consider to be in the same league. But yeah, these guys are all going to command top-end contracts so hopefully they agree to take a bit of a paycut across the board or someone's gonna walk.
