i know its ironic because people will ask if it was so great then why did he leave, but you cant blame the man for making the extra $$$. I'd much rather focus on his parting comments, which reaffirm what we already knew, not only do players now want to play for the jets, they are willing to run through a brick wall for sexy rexy http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/12165/feely-blocks-jets-lowball-offer-joins-cards
Strong comments you don't see too often from a departing player: "There's no question that I love that organization," Feely said. "It's a great locker room. The guys on that team are tremendous to be around, a very open and welcoming locker room with a lot of young talent. The foundation is in place for them to be good for a long time. "The relationship between the coaches and players is unique. It's an ideal fit. The coaches have authority and demand the most, but have the respect of the players, who give their best out of mutual admiration. "Nobody would want to leave that environment."
to me this one hurts. classy man who i respect a lot. will be rooting for him. any word on the size of the contract thy offered him. has to be in the 700- a million range if he turned down the jets 300 000
Hopefully we won't be needing to kick 36 field goals next season. I really don't get it to be honest. How much was this guy making that he had to take a $300K paycut?
The Jets did not offer him 300,000...that is below the Vet minimum, they offered him 300,000 LESS than his former one of 1.5 million, so 1.2 million.
oh whatever im half a sleep, then it would have to be 1.7-2 then to get him to leave i think. anyway, we should be able to bring in a half decent player for that amount
He got $1.5mil last year. So we offered $1.2mil that he rejected. Im sure Cards offer was atleast $1.5 to 2 mil a yr.
That kind of locker room is what the Steelers usually have, and it extends to the entire organization. Its amazing what a year does to a franchise. Props to Woody.
I don't like this move guys. We all know how playoff games can come down to a FG and how important a money kicker is. I live wheres there is a lot of Dallas coverage and Nick Folk is hot garbage.
He wasn't worth the money he was asking for but he was still a class act. Hopefully he can play well for the Cards(kind of hard not to in that stadium).
only way this pays off is if Folk looks like he did his rookie year. I remember him killing kickoffs. other than that Feely was pretty money. i liked his leadership, personality, and the way he takes his game seriously.
^Or if we find someone in the draft or UDFA who can top Folk and Feely, something I don't think would be too difficult.
I could be mistaken, but didn't we all think lowly of Feely before he took over for Nugent 2 years ago? Im just saying, you never know what you are going to get....
Wasnt he only asking for around 1.5 million ? Seems about what a kicker should make Nugent made 1 million his last year with the Jets. Im still for the replacing Feely move, which gives us some flexibility in the free agency and hopefully got us a kicker with a damn boot for once (Folk)
He was #17 in the league, not even in the top half. $1.5 is a lot for a guy who has played on 4 teams in his career.
You take out the 2 botched kicks in the Atlanta game and he is tied for # 9. I support the move, just not because of a couple hundred grand
i know i did from seeing him with the dolphins. i remember thinking that i wanted an upgrade from nugent not just a different face. i was wrong then and hopefully i will be wrong about my opinion of folk too.
