Looks like Arizona offered somewhere near $1.5mil I guess if we offered $1.2 mil. The higher he signs, the better it is.

Now if only Al Davis signs Kellen for a $6 mil deal...

He went to the Buccs who cut him, then Zona signed Nugent when Rackers got hurt.

Since then Nugent was cut though

We let him walk because he thought he was worth more than we were offering - he's clearly not.

There's reason why Feely's been on so many teams over his career. He's not a top tier kicker like a lot of you seem to think. He's mediocre...so he should get a mediocre contract.

Nick Folk is the reason why we let Feely walk. I'm sure we'll bring another cheap option in to compete with him, but I think Folk is our kicker of the future.

Yeah..so if he signed within the 1.5mil a year area..who would be available for 1.5mil?

Either way, it's a pretty safe 1 year test drive.

I doubt Feely is getting $2 mil a year, probably close to the $1.5 he made last year and Rackers didn't even respond to $2 mil a year so they wouldn't be able to sign him.

Besides why waste the one UFA spot we can use now on another kicker.

I don't think this was the case. I mean, why would someones comments affect how you kick? Folk got plenty of chances last year so its not like Jerry said you miss one, you're out.

But I do think Folk can regain his form and come back strong. He won't get too many chances in the NFL, especially as a kicker. For him, its either now, or maybe never.

These guys are in the league because they can kick the ball a mile. You have to have a clear head to make kicks - most of their success comes from being mentally stable.

That's why pressure filled kicks are so hard for these guys to make - they have to THINK about them.

A kicker in the NFL obviously has the ability to make kicks..or they wouldn't be there. It is all mental for them, and if your owner criticizes a young kicker like Folk it messes with their head.

Edit: MrE beat me to it

Im not following the FA since we don't even have much room to work, but I think $1.5 can get us some really good CB or RB depth. We lost Lito and Strickland while picking up Cro. If Leon leaves, we'll be thin at RB. I would like the Jets to go DL in the first or even first and 2nd round. Then WR, Safety, OL, CB...depending on how we play out the rest of FA and what happens with Leon.

I think it has more to do with focus. Focus is a mental thing but if your owner criticized you few days ago and step on the field and lay an egg, it doesn't bode well for you. If someone criticized saying lets say "I can't outrun a DL", my motive would be to do exactly the opposite and prove em wrong.

To me, that should give you motivation. Most of the half time speaches go something like "we are playing like shit and don't have our focus in the game. Pull your shit together...". If you are hurt by such things, football isn't for you.

I can understand pressure filled kicks. They are nowhere near a normal kick. Hell, even a pressure QB sneak at the one yard line can seem like five yards away. I've played plenty of sports and been in several pressure situations. But you don't lay an egg because your owner criticized you few days ago.

It's definitely possible for Jones' comments to affect Nick Folk mentally.

You brought up focus earlier, right? Can you focus on your job when your boss is constantly breathing down your neck?

Jerry Jones needs to get his smug ass of the field and back into the owner's box.

I'm really not banking on a change of scenery helping his kicking percentage. Do you really think he is going to be under LESS pressure playing in New York than Dallas? You're basically giving him Doug Brien's confidence.

If you look at it, Doug Brien wasn't a terrible kicker for us. He missed a few key kicks towards the end of the year and was booted.

Ughhhhhh... He missed two kicks in the biggest game of the season. He got jittery in the one place a kicker never can. That's why he got fired. That's why Feely was offered less money.

Brien was scapegoated by a HC with no sense of accountability. Probably a similar circumstance to how Folk was treated in Dallas, actually.

this is just an awful deal ...JF was solid all season and is a great competitor. Folk sucks the big one! They better have some more kickers coming to camp

Faggot was exactly 50% in the post season that year. He had to go. Are you really being an apologist for Doug Brien?
