Well at least it happened a few weeks before the draft, so now we have a chance to sign an equivalent FA and shore up a position to give us better chance to draft for value.

Does this open the door for Darren Sharper?

I feel like this is a mistake. He's been a good kicker for us and we've downgraded based on recent production.I think we need to bring in competition for Folk, either through free agency of spend a late round pick on a kicker.

I'm disappointed in this move - kickers are a pretty nondescript bunch most of the time and to have one who not only kicks very well but also has some real football ability is rare. He tackles, fills in at punter and generally plays with a swagger.

I hope Folk fills in well.

We won't be able to tell until the terms go public. Just hold out hope that Feely got treated very nicely by the Cards.

dang it, loved Feely. It was such a joy to have a non-head-case kicker, for once.

Mike Nugent is out there...remember we only signed Feely last year when we couldn't re-sign Nugent.

The handwriting has been on the wall for this since the off season began. The Jets showed no signs they were interested in keeping Feely which i don't understand. This is just another move that i question since the off season began but this is what it is so we move on.
I didn't hear that Feely had a lot of interest from any other teams so i'm not expecting a big payday.

For the last time, that was ONE FREAKING GAME. He was a solid kicker for us, and I'm definitely sad he's gone. Having said that, I've made my feelings known about Folk. If he's working with Sailer and if his kicking motion has been corrected, there's a good chance he returns to form after last year's rush back from injury. I'll wait and see how that turns out before I gloom and doom this move. If Folk returns to form, he's our kicker for another decade.

Also, Feely should post the best numbers of his career down there. He's either kicking in hot dry air or climate controlled conditions. And as soon as he has a solid season this year outside of the poor conditions at the old Meadowlands, the whining on here is going to be astounding.

I think we pretended to show interest to drive his market value up a bit. Now I just hope that it worked.

I had a dream yesterday that we were in a big playoff game and we needed a medium range field goal to win the game and we were down by 1 and our kicker who wasn't feely missed. I was upset and in the dream i can remember seeing how good of a year feely had but it was with the jaguars for some reason. Hopefully it plays out differently in reality.
