Wow. That's completely unnecessary. I'm curious, too, since I've seen it a few times. Keels is a douchebag, but what exactly makes him 'ghetto'?
I don't understand what Leon is hoping for here. Surely his best plan is to sign the tender, play hard and get a lucrative contract for 2011? Any long term deal he gets this year will be at a discount.
I think a lot of it derives from people thinking 924jets is Keels, and that he ended one of his posts with something about a black man being successful and "us" not being happy about it. However, fighting racism with racism is the dumbest thing you can do, but ending a post like that just opens the door to problems. as for JETSFANNYC, he clearly has an IQ way below 70. I mean "What gonna happen is leon...."
Hehehe, in that original thread, people (myself included) started goading that guy by calling him Alvin. Somehow that got translated into 'Hey Alvin Keels posted on TGG'. We should get Spivey to post in that thread.
Someone mentioned it, and it seems a group has ran with it. Keels already says enough dumb things on twitter to be blogging now.
Unless he knows that his injury is worse than people realize and that any action he sees this year will just prove that, thus devaluing the potential contract he could receive. If that's the case, his best bet is to get as good of a contract as he can now, before anyone actually sees him play this year.
Considering all Leon has given this team, I don't think it's fair to say "the hell with him" just because he's in a difficult spot contract wise. Yea it turns out he made the wrong decision by not signing his contract last spring, but there is no going back to that point. I completely understand that this is a business, and maybe Leon will never bring to the Jets what he did in 2008. I don't think that's any reason to hate the guy. As a football fan and as a Jets fan I wish nothing but the best for Leon. I hope he becomes a dangerous weapon for the Jets once again, but if not I thank him for the excitement he's brought to our franchise on many Sundays.
I think people are getting a little too worked up regarding Leon. Sure, I love him in Green and White, but he isn't really anything more than a backup RB, who can be occasionally explosive. Now that he's recovering from a horrible injury he's probably going to lose that explosiveness. There are teams out there who would kill to have our offseason issues, so I'm not sweating this one bit.
