So Keels is claiming the Jets didn't make a fair market offer to Leon. What a shock that he would make such a claim.
This is bullshit- no way would this information only come out now. It's awfully convenient that this comes out the week after Rex says Leon will have a reduced role and no team appears interested in him.
Of course they'd deny this. It was stupid of Leon's camp to reject a very good offer last season, and now it has completely blown up in their faces.
Yeah, why not mention it at the time? Also, we already knew that part of the dispute was when the new deal would commence.
Also, I reckon Leon's wife is more likely to be the source than Keels, given what she has tweeted recently.
the reason this is coming out now is because Keels has realized there is NO MARKET for Leon and he is trying to make it seem like the Jets fault that his client is unsigned as well as make it seem less like HIS FAULT when Leon in fact does sign for 2.4. That said, I never really thought the Jets had made a 5 mil/10 guaratneed offer. I would have thought that was fair, but I always thought the Jets were offering like 2-3 per.
Leon looks like such a malcontent right now that I doubt anyone will be willing to sign a contract close to what he wants. The shit thing is, I don't think the Jets can actually move him until he signs the tender. At this point, if Leon signs, look for him to be shipped out two days later.
