i puked a little when HBK laid a big smooch on HHH's cheek at the end of RAW. When did WWE turn into Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? I remember when wrestling was good....where the fuck is Duke the Dumpster Drosie?!
somebody needs to start a "Bring back Duke The Dumpster Drosie" thread......I wanna see somebody get the Trash Compactor finisher.
I liked HBK in the 90s. The original DX with HBK, HHH and Chyna was bad ass. It's hard to believe Michaels retired once already, seems like he's been around forever. I really got sick of the DX thing after they kept bringing it back over and over again. HBK in the 90's was pure legend, but I was just plain sick of him in the 00's. Undertaker should be the next to go.
The last match was great. I love how much Orton is coming on finally. The HBK thing had me in tears. That was truely special.
I was thinking about it today. Orton kicked everyone that was a face in the head and knocked them out for an extended period of time. Everyone. From RVD to Triple H and even Stephanie McMahon, to Dusty Rhodes, everyone got a kick. He had a heel title run of around 6 months. He uttered what is easily the most classless line (and after the attitude era and the bullshit they've put Jim Ross through, that's saying something) when he said Eddie Guerrero was in hell. And yet his face transition has been seamless. SEAMLESS. They wish Edge's was going THIS well. As far as Shawn goes, I agree. It's literally unprecedented that someone on Shawn's level has been able to go out on such a high note and when he has more to give to the business. No one has been able to go out on their terms quite like that. It remains to see if he'll stay out but he looked pretty damn sincere that he was done last night. Shawn's in the rarefied air of Hogan, Flair, Bret, Austin etc. The problem is those guys were either done because of injury or just can't come to terms with the fact that it's over. Bret's return has been nice because he was always EXTREMELY bitter and it seems as though he's finally making his peace with the business, but I mean Jesus, on TNA they literally WHEELED a 94 year old Ric Flair out to the ring. So good for Shawn, he's able to leave with his head high and his place in the business secure and universally respected.
HBK HBK! My favorite wrestler of all time. My 12 year old self is in mourning today. I would always go apeshit on my friends if they chose HBK in a WWE video game,
I think he's always had the fan base, it's just that the WWE refused to acknowledge it, and if they don't show the crowd celebrating no one would be the wiser. I was at the Hell in a Cell some months back at the Rock and Orton may have the most positive reaction of any wrestler, except for maybe the Undertaker. Plus, he's a guy that's kicked old men in the head, how can you not root for him?
I think Orton looked really weak since losing to Triple H at Wrestlemania 25. Think about it, first he loses in the Main Event of Wrestlemania then the only way he can regain the title is in a 6 man tag team match. Then he gets squashed by Batista in a cage match and they make him look like a chump in his fued with John Cena. Hes starting to look much stronger now after breaking away from Legacy and it looks like he'll will out the badass tweener type character really nicely. It would be nice to see him fued with Cena or Batista and not look like a total joke in matches against them. However, I think an Orton vs the Straight Edge Society fued would just be really sick.
I'm turned off to modern wrestling, but do see the PPV a couple of months later on WWE on demand. I don't like Orton's style. He's the most guilty of wrestling for the camera. In the old days it was said that you wrestle so that the fan in the last row can understand. Now they know which camera is on for every move and word and it looks like a movie or TV show. Before the MSG Network would broadcast a wrestling card that was taking place at MSG for the fans there. Now the fans at MSG are watching a TV show taking place for the viewers at home. That difference really bugs me.
Orton is just like-able. People are sick of the Cena shit and want another Austin type persona which Orton has become. They're being forced to change the storylines because people are starting to like him. Orton is very much like the Rock or Austin and I and we love him because of it.
There will never be another gimmick as good as Austins. Every guy who comes in as the anti-hero and tells authority to fuck off will just look like an Austin rip-off. But let me know how that goes.
Yeah I don't see how Orton is like Austin. The only similarity is that they're different from the status quo which Orton really isn't anyway as he's kind of cookie-cutter. That being said I think he'll be a solid face, I just hope they don't change a thing. Keep him the way he is, if he comes out and starts acting differently because he's a face WWE will find a way to turn it ultra gay, (see: Morrison, John)
I always thought Orton was a joke since he debuted. The heel Orton always looked like a weak bitch that could only win matches when Legacy interfered.
...and Jack Swagger is the new World Heavyweight Champion, via pinfall over the near-unconscious Chris Jericho (speared by Edge first) That didn't take long.
