im sure the place is 'nicer' due to combined money from both teams. im glad there is no fucking roof. im sad there is less than ideal tail gating (fans being trained in, etc). cant wait for opening mnf with the palace lit up in green. giants suck. thank you.
I know that everyone here is happy to see the stadium go because it embodied, in the eyes of many, the Jets' status as the 2nd team in New York; but I must say that I will miss the seating. I don't think there was a bad seat in that stadium. I've been to a several Giants' games (and even one Jets' game) and was in a different seat each time. I don't think my view of the game was ever anything less than very good to great.
it is true that there wasnt a bad seat in the house. this new shithole stadium with its obstructed views, mile high upper deck, lack of escalators that make sense, open upper deck concourse and all the other stuff will make people wish we were still playing in that old cement stadium.
Still sore about not being able to move closer with 1981 seniority. I'll be able to be happy about the new stadium once we start winning in it.
Shea was a complete Hell-Hole too though. Planes over top every damn 3 minutes, crappy food. Those were lean years man! Only positive thing was getting Jets tickets were like buying Lottery Scratch-off's! Easy to get and everywhere. Never cared for Giants Stadium, and yep', we were always playing second place to the Giants, but its a new beggining for this team, first with Rex, Tanny and company, and now with a decent new stadium. Cant wait for the next few years as I am more positive then I have been in the past 41!
Hated the place for being Giants stadium, lot of fun times though and would rather still be there as of today. I was glad the Yanks moved out of their place, it was to small and tight and I love the new Yankee Stadiu, I did not feel the same way about Giant Stadium, it was fine. But good riddance to the blue sign
Me to. 1981 and I am farther away, never mind closer. I guess its time to move on. We are a team on the rise and our leader has balls of steel. We are no longer sitting back waiting, we are taking the bull by the horns and making ourselves one of the top NFL teams. Of course, if we don't win, we look like asses
given the choice, i bet a lot of g-girl fans playing in 'their own house' would rather have been jet fans going to the championship game. being a jet fan last season meant being a fan of a great team AND knowing that the giants had to mop our showers and scrub our toilets. that's one benefit to being a tennant!!!!
Even though it had probably been about 10 years since I went to a game with my dad it was a bonding experience with him when I was a kid. I barely saw him because we lived down the Shore and he worked in the city. He'd leave for work at 5AM and sometimes wouldn't get home until 8 or 9 PM. Sundays and Jets football where a big deal for us. He and my uncle used to have me sneak beers into that place. I was great at it and never got caught. I'm still mad at those bastards in the yellow coats for taking my gatorade away from me. I was lucky though, one of the 1st games he took me too was the Marino vs O' Brien game in 86. I even got to go the WC game vs the Chiefs when Ryan played. Unfortunately I was at the Dennis Byrd game (ironically against the Chiefs) and the fake spike. One f the greatest memories I have was the year the Giants needed to beat us to make the playoffs and we having nothing to play for ruined their season. One of the funniest memories was the year we hosted the 49ers, Montana was injured and Young was playing. I don't remember if we knocked Young out of the game or not but somehow Steve Bono ended up coming in the game. This guy behind us kept yelling all these obscenities to Bono, stuff like U2 sucks, does Edge f**k you in the ass and all sorts of crazy shit never realizing it was pronounced differently. One of the worst was sitting through a game against the Colts in the rain. I think we lost 6-3 and I just remember wondering why we sat through the entire thing in the rain. I know now but as a kid I had no idea.
While watching the destruction of Yankee stadium gets me choked up, I cannot say the same about the destruction of Giants Stadium
i was at all those games too.the colts game i think was 5-3 b/c of a safety. and i also went to the patriot wild card game in 85.man i was pumped when i got those tix christmas morning....
You got me thinking about it now, so I had to look it up... http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199210110clt.htm To make matters worse we lost in OT  Dean Biasuchi kicked the game winner What a QB matchup, Jeff George against Browning Nagle The loss dropped us to 1-5 on the season. That was the same season as Steve Bono the lead singer of U2....
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198411110nyj.htm sorry this is the game im talking about. pouring rain 7,000 people in attendance jets where sacked 6 times 1 int jets had 12 completions the colts 6 we lost 9-5 6-2 at halftime. i was 8 years old
Oh shit.... that was abouyt a year before my dad started taking me, the ironic thing is that in both those games 3 of the kickers involved at one point played for the Jets; Allegre, Blanchard, Leahy
I disagree, now that they've moved the facility to New Jersey they no longer have to travel and stay over for their home games. Long overdue but the right move. My thoughts too. Everyone knew he was full of shit but they took him seriously anyway. Tools.
