Not really sure what to make of this. I know these stats dont show the full picture and all but I was definitely shocked to read this.

They have a chart of the worst/best tackling safeties on the bottom too, showing Leonard as one of the worst

I still prefer Leonhard because it says in the article "when Rhodes attempted a tackle."

I don't care if he has a high percentage....would you rather have your QB go 5/5 and get sacked 9 times or go 9/13 and get sacked once?

It makes sense based on physical ability, Rhodes is superior to Leonhard. This doesn't change the fact that the prancing pony is still a bitch, however I'd say that Rhodes is a better tackler when he TRIES.

No stats will change what I watched this year from Kerry Rhodes. He looked lazy and confused out there, and I saw Leonhard make play after play after play from start to finish. And I'm sure those numbers are skewed because Rhodes gets involved when he feels like it, and Leonhard tackles the ball carrier like he recently kicked his dog. Every play.

gotta factor in Leonhard tried to make any kind tackle he couldve, even the ones he knew he couldnt make because of a piss poor angles. Its not like he was squaring up every time and he still missed the tackle. Now call me crazy, but that slowed down the runner long enough for another team mate to come in and make a tackle and thats how youre coached, always run to the ball. Dont remember Kerry doing much of that. I rather have someone who tries to be in on every tackle and doesnt make em than someone who only tries when he feels like it

These numbers also don't take into account the fact that Rhodes' tackling form was some of the worst I have ever seen. He might have stopped some people but he was frequently bowled over, allowing at least 3+ yards on the carry on numerous occasions.

Rhodes was flaccid the past two years. Leonhard plays his heart out and that's what Ryan wants. Kerry can kiss my ass.

I don't think that says much. Physically, Leonhard isn't as gifted so it might be partially true.. but he ALWAYS goes for the tackle. Even when he isn't in good position, he still rushes in to make a swipe; Rhodes will quite literally prance around hoping someone else will make the play.

so he gets credited with a tackle even though he "slows down" the ballcarrier for his teammates to bring to the ground?

And we saw Leonhard with the cast- he couldn't tackle anyone 1 on 1. We didn't give him shit because we understood what was going on.

Uh.... that's why no one should put anything into these moronic sabermetric-type numbers. They're all the same nonsense.

Show me one clip of Kerry hitting someone so hard he lost his helmet! None? All you have is him being dragged and run over? Fail.

    Does it really matter anymore?
If Rhodes was the better tackler, I'd still take Jimmy over him, as you know that your not going to see him 'woman' out of a tackle, and he will give you 100%.
The amount of times I've seen Rhodes NOT commit to the tackle far out weighs what this article says.
Anyway hes gone to finish his career in the desert now

That tells you everything you need to know.

It was never a question of whether Rhodes could play. The problem was that he didn't have the desire to play.
