Yep thats correct, but if the Old fella was struggling the surely his carries should have been more. Whatever the ratio, the job got done but unfortunately at crunch time we were left with no running game at all. if i attempted to read your posts in their entirety....i'd have to stab my eyes out with a butter knife....to ease the pain.
you are aware that the Jets apparently tried to resign TJ and he didn't want to come back, right? you do know that for two parties to partner, they both have to agree that they want to. the idea that TJ didn't come back to the Jets because they didn't want to pay him is asinine. he didn't come back because he felt the opportunity with the Chiefs was better suited for his interests, whatever those interests are.
Every team is a "superbowl or bust" team. But if you want to get technical, the Jets are less of a "Superbowl or Bust" team than many of the front runners from this year. Sanchez and Greene are going to be around for a long time (provided they aren't busts) along with Revis and Mangold. Yeah, the Jets have some old players, but they also have some core players who are young and very talented. Ultimately, TJ was going to backup Greene, and so is LT barring LT having some kind of insane preseason where he reverts back to his 31TD form. This is a lot of pissing and moaning over the backup RB position.
GET THE FUCK OVER IT. Holy crap. You are whining and pissing and moaning about a backup position. TJ was a pretty good starter, but we need a 3rd down runningback. LT can block in the backfield, can be a much better dump-off option than TJ ever was on his best day, and he still has a better burst to the gap than TJ ever did, even with as much mileage and at the age of 31.
i don't see how this hurts us. we get a future hall of famer to instill that work ethic to our young, and now feature, back- Shonn Greene. we get a back who is great out of hte backfield to help our young face of the franchise QB. and if anything happens in losing Leon, we are not completely screwed in the backfield. yes he's on the decline, and yes TJ was fresher. TJ danced at hte LOS too much and didn't hit the hole. this became glaringly evident in the playoffs, particularly when greene went down. change is tough to deal with, i get it, but if you don't see this as an improvement i don't know what to tell you. agree to disagree.
nyjunc, this post is exactly how it is suppose to be. Greene is the future and will be our starting back. LT and LW will their fair share of carries but Greene, like TJ, will get most of the carries. LW will be a change of pace and LT might get the goal line carries.
Quit your crying, man. This thread wasn't needed and everything about it sucks. Whoever wrote the article is a douche bag. I don't know how anyone who knows half a shit about this game can consider this move a "trade", when LT is clearly being brought in as a ROLE PLAYER. Shonn Greene was drafted to replace Thomas Jones. Tomlinson was signed because we needed a veteran back that can contribute in multiple ways. Versatility is something that Thomas Jones doesn't bring to the table.
Although 31 is near the end of a RBs career, with an OL line ours that made TJ look like one of the best RB in the NFL, LT should do a good job as a back up. Maybe Im delusional. Maybe TJ was a great RB, but something tells me TJ couldn't do shit until we brought in Faneca and Woody. Apparently, TJ got better when he hit the 30 year old mark. Perhaps it was the OL that made him better. If I had a choice to pick TJ or LT, I might pick TJ only because he had a career year. But TJ was nothing but an average back until WE bolstered our OL. LT can do and equal or a better job than TJ behind our OL.
Losing Jones was Mistake, but Happy with LT Signing I agree with those that say the Jets made a terrible mistake by getting rid of Thomas Jones -- one that could potentially come back to haunt the team. Shonn Greene didn't have many carries last season and still found a way to get hurt twice. Leon Washington broke his leg. Who knows what's in store for both these guys -- IMO both incredibly gifted athletes. So if I were the Jets, I would have paid Jones what he was asking for and kept him as insurance, should our other two, G-d forbid, not be able to avoid injury. That said, I'm very happy the Jets got LT. Even though I don't think he's as good as Jones, he is a hall of famer and could wind up with a great year behind our O-Line. Me, though, I would have stuck with Jones -- for a number of reasons -- but I'm glad we got LT, and I hope Greene and Washington both stay with the Jets and both stay injury-free. I'm looking forward to the season, and my gloom and doom about Jones being released is over. Jets 20-10!!! Go Jets!!!
To be honest I think this improves the goal line situation. LT still has a great nose for the endzone. Better than TJ does hands down. And with this defense, we have and plenty of short fields forthcoming. It should be obvious that the departure of TJ is irrelavant. LT picked his game up the second half of the season last year and should pick up where he left off. TJ didn't get us there all by himself. People here are getting rediculous with this. Typical kneejerk reactions. This is reminding me of the two douchebag brothers at the draft shaking their heads during the Sanchez pick. To each his own but pretty silly if you ask me.
Apparently, TJ couldn't get it done. TJ is a good RB for 12-14 games. Beyond that, he needs to refuel his tank. Playoffs is not for TJ after carrying the ball 300+ times.
Did TJ light up the play offs and leave us for the Pats?? No he was a RB falling apart who was looked at by the lions and chiefs. Jesus quit weeping guys its fucking embarassing
