We should be happy the NYJ have acquired anyone. We can't fuckin' sign UFAs.... This fanbase is impossible. We've acquired CB Cromartie and two draft picks while trimming payroll. WTF more do you want?

    JULIUS MOTHA FUCKIN' PEPPERS!

Honestly though, it's a bit silly that people are trying to evaluate free agency so early considering the F8P restrictions.

Tannenbaum is very smart, grabbing an extra pick in this draft for Sherry, and picking up Cromartie to try and turn him around with a change of scenery.

Listen, I understand why people think the Jets are being cheap. It's an uncapped year, why fix what isn't broken (Jones, Feely)?

Folk is a much better deal at kicker who was extremely successful his first two seasons. There's no reason he can't return to that level; he's 25. Most kickers bounce around. Feely missed two kicks in the AFC Championship game.

Jones could have easily been brought back and all he would have cost is money. But his 1400 yards were soft last year in that if you give most runningbacks the amount of carries he got behind the offensive line we had, they would do that well. Jones's biggest values were in his durability and his lack of fumbling. He's replaceable.

People in the locker room will get over it. It's their job. It's Shonn Greene's turn. Before last season, everyone was pumped about a Greene/Washington tandem. If Leon stays healthy, everyone's happy Jones is gone because our two biggest playmakers at runningback will get the ball more. Obviously, it's now a riskier proposition with his injury, but if he comes back strong, we have a more explosive tandem than last season.

I do expect another back to be brought in, and I do think there is something to Chauncey Washington. Otherwise, we wouldn't have signed him late last season when we already had a number of backs on the team.

Bringing Jones back would have been fiscally a bad decision, and it would have taken away carries from Greene and Washington. Three runningbacks can't handle the load at the same time. Sure, backs get hurt, but we have a foundation with our offensive line. Jones is an old runningback. Out with the old, in with the new.

We were a 9-7 team last year. We won two games in the playoffs largely because Greene made our running game more explosive. If Jones was still our lead back, we would have probably lost round one.

No joke, there was a game where Nick Folk was 7/7 for kicks for Dallas, in 08-09

3 extra points, and 4 kicks from the 40-49 yard range. The guy is a solid kicker.

    Edit:

The 4 FG's from the 40-49 yard range were:

    48, 41, 47, 42

The Feely/Folk thing will play itself out in time. If Folk can kick, it won't matter. If Folk sucks, then we'll regret the move. Odds are Folk can kick because that's what he's done most of his career and I trust Tannenbaum enough to think he's doing this for good reason.

If Folk sucks, we'll let him go halfway through the year and get someone else. Remember, we got Feely after week one because Miami didn't want him.
