I know enough about you from your posts on this board. If a guy walks into a room covered in white and red face paint, wearing a polka-dot jumpsuit and a blue wig and honking a horn, I don't need to know him personally to call him a clown.

Hey genius, we haven't lost Leon yet, so he doesn't apply. You should read the wealth of posters more intelligent than you for info on why we likely won't even lose him.

I guess jerks like you exist everywhere. People like you only like to listen to yourselves. Whenever anyone else has an opinion, you have to attack. You have shortcomings that you need to overcome by knocking someone down to your size. A mental midget :p

Got it. Allow me to rephrase: you want the team to improve in some areas and regress in others. We want the team to improve in all possible ways.

I hope we don't lose him. He was one of my favorite players. You read the board with all the rumors...

They don't want to re-sign them.

Here are the moves we've made:

    1. Thomas Jones isn't worth the money. He's clearly on the decline.

    2. Jay Feely is a mediocre-at-best, journeyman kicker. The love fest around here for this guy is hilarious. (Replaced by Nick Folk)

    3. Kerry Rhodes obviously wasn't worth what he was making. He didn't fit the scheme. This team acquired two draft picks and saved a lot of money by shipping him out.

    4. Donald Strickland and Lito Sheppard couldn't stay on the field, so why keep them around? (Sheppard was replaced by Antonio Cromartie)

Out of these moves we have to pick up a running back, a safety, and a dime back. All of these moves are very doable.

We haven't lost Leon Washington yet, but he's not worth the money either. Leon has a lot to prove in 2010. He suffered a serious injury last season. I honestly don't think he'll ever be the same player.

They're getting cut because they are no longer wanted on the team.

Well, sort of. I've been against re-signing Leon Washington for a while. Now that we have the opportunity to pick up a valuable draft pick for him, I'm going to defend my thoughts on this situation.

I want him gone for a second rounder. The Jets should let someone sign him, and then never look back.

Everyone here with a fully functioning brain knows that TGG is going to be a total shit show if Washington gets traded.

You don't have an opinion. You have a crusade. People that usually share opinions on message boards are interested in the opinions of others.

You are into shouting to the masses. If you actually presented a reasonable argument, one that made sense, you might garner some sort of conversation. Instead, you blab and blab about things that you do not understand and call other peoples' opinions 'making excuses'. That's fucking ignorant.

I don't want to regress. I want a consistant kicker. I want insurance for our running game. I want an upgrade for corner. I want to keep the most exciting guy on the Jets -- Leon. And I don't think we can do better at safety than Rhodes.

I don't see where any of those things would cause us to regress. I'm asking you seriously, because maybe I'm not seeing something correctly: Do you?

Listen, seriously speaking, I have tried to explain fully all of my positions. I think I have a decent argument to be made for each player.

TJ did great last year -- who can argue that?

Feeley kicked 30 of 36 -- who can argue that he didn't do well?

Wash prior to injury was our most popular player -- can't argue that.

Shep and Strick had injuries that could cost us if we keep them, so we went out to get Cro-man -- can't argue that.

Rhodes is debatable. Personally, I think he's hard to replace, and I don't think he's as much of a distraction as the first few Tweets he sent before.

I'm not saying anything crazy. If I am, please tell me.

TJ has already begun to regress and will take a huge step back this year IMO. We are better off with Leon if he signs an offer sheet worth matching and/or a drafted RB.

Folk at his best is better than Feely at his best. His mechanics were poor last year beause he hurried back from injury. Apparently, he's done well to repair them if his tryout went so well.

We already significantly upgraded our corner.

We can do better than Rhodes, especially if we get Atogwe. You're holding on to 06/07 waaaay too much. He's been declining ever since and has turned into a distraction.

    I can.

Thomas Jones was very productive last season, but he was clearly on the decline during the back end of 2009. He wasn't worth the cash the Jets were going to pay him.

This team has to move on.

The 17 other kickers in the NFL that had better accuracy than Jay Feely would probably like to argue that Feely is a middle of the pack kicker that doesn't deserve a big contract.

I want a kicker that can be consistent in the playoffs.

I can argue that. Darrelle Revis and Mark Sanchez are my favorite players on the team.

I never wanted the Jets to give Washington big money, and I've wanted him gone ever since those contract negotiations broke down.

Nice backpedal, but that's not your crusade. Your crusade is that the Jets aren't spending like the Yankees in an uncapped year to keep all of their players to maintain the status quo (because status quo is what it is - if you keep the same aging or non-productive players, you are not getting better or worse - you are staying the same).

When people give their arguments about why the Jets have made these moves, you tell them they are making excuses, that they are wrong, and that Woody is a cheapskate. That's a decent argument? On what planet?

All of this, of course, is happening in the first full week of free agency, which means you are being unreasonable and alarmist.

Oh, and the 2nd round tender actually gives us our best chance to keep Leon by using a no risk strategy to find his market value.

How has it been proven that he can't take the punishment? they thought that about Tiki Barber before he had a chance to become an every down back too.

    1. Jones had his best year last year, he was HURT down the stretch and in postseason, he clearly has another year left in him especially splitting time w/ the other guys.

    2. Feely is the best Kicker we have had in all my years watching the Jets.

    3. Rhodes fit the scheme, he just had non-football interests.

Leon is a rare football talent.

He can do it all, I would hate to see him go. He has great hands, feet, and head.

Hell they could probably put him at safety and he'd excel there too.

A Leon and Brad run Seminole would be a nightmare-

I want to keep Leon, up to 3 million per year.

The NY Post said the same thing I basically said. Maybe I just didn't use such politically correct terms. I know cheapskate's a little harsh, but I think it's true -- in this case.

When he was looking to put the Jets in NYC and said he'd pay for half or the majority of it, I defended Woody in the opposite direction. But I think he's being a little cheap now.

I also know that, right now, that seems to be the norm for owners -- to keep to an invisible cap. They all know each other, and I think they have come to some kind of agreement with each other, due to fear of the cap for 2011 -- don't pay players too much. That's my opinion. I don't have any inside info to back it up.

But even if I'm right about that, this still is NY, and most NY fans want a win at all costs. At least, I do.

I'm not backpedaling. I've explained my positions fully.

I would say the proof was pretty obvious when the CS asked him to take an inside handoff and he responded by breaking two out of three major bones in one leg.

Because if there is one thing that 31 year old NFL HBs with consecutive 300+ carry seasons are know for, it's bouncing back from an injured joint in their legs...
The Jets' must have had the shittiest roster of kickers in the NFL, then, if the guy who fucked up three OT kicks against Seattle can pick up that crown in the same year he ranks 17 against the field.
His skill set fit the team but his mentality didn't. I would rather have a guy who did not fit the position but wanted to play, rather than a guy who fits it perfectly but has no urge to actually try or give a damn.
