Faulk is a hell of a player and averages less than $3 million/year on his current deal. Master P thinks Leon deserves what Sproles is tagged at which is now over $7 million a year. No way in hell we pay that with our o-line and Mangold, Harris, D'Brick, and Revis to pay.
Sometimes players hold on to their name as well. Rhodes is a good example. I agree about Leon, he is a fan favorite for sure and I too would hate to lose him, but at what price does he stay?
And you can't spend like the yankees. Everything you do now has ramifications down the road, especially when a new CBA is reached. Baseball has no such plans to do so. Please stop comparing the two.

i agree with you. Keels is killing the Jets opportunity to keep LW at a reasonable market price. The Pats 2nd rounder is a tantalizing alternative.
Special Teams is what worries me- Since he would know ours so well. FOP game would easily be won by the Pats.

Why should we believe otherwise? Last year he was demanding Sproles' money even though it was a bloated 1 year tag contract. Leon was offered a healthy salary and they turned it down because of the Sproles deal. Sproles just got tendered for a 1st and 3rd so his contract is even worse.
You think Leon could turn the Pats around ? And torment us for years and years to come ? Hes 28 coming off a very serious injury. Running backs have a significantly shorter life span than many other positions, and its usually their receiving game that goes down hill first (where leons most useful). The Patriots defense is in complete shambles, their #1 wr has openly stated he doesnt believe he will play with them much longer (and hes old), their #2 wr is dealing with an incredibly serious injury of his own and will likely miss most of this season, and they may very well lose their best defense player (Bodden) to free agency. So no am I not worried about them giving us draft pick in the second round of an incredibly talented draft class for a player who has MAYBE 3 good seasons left, assuming its even that many due to his injury.
Okay, but there's an argument to keep all of them. With regard to Feely, it's not easy to find a consistant kicker, so why not sign him for a couple more years. What he's asking for will certainly not hurt the future cap. Thomas Jones was due ONE year, so when that year is over, he can go wherever he wants to go. So he won't hurt any cap. Rhodes is a very good safety. Sure he didn't play up to his potential at the beginning of last season, but when Rex sat him, he responded with, what 3 or so INTs. And yes, he's got a bit of an ego problem, but I don't think he's a bad guy or a bad influence, and IMO he will not be easy to replace. And Leon? Like I said -- the most exciting and most popular Jets player prior to the break. What I'm trying to say is there's no problem for our future in keeping these guys, while we bring in the Cro and other upgrades. But the four guys I mentioned IMO don't need upgrades. I want Woody to act like the Bears and spend.

Prior to the break we didnt have Braylon, Scott, Harris, Leonard, Greene, and Revis wasnt nearly as good as he became over the last season. Look how many years LT was the most exciting player on the Chargers, and see how well that fared for him recently. Time to look to the future, not dreams of the past.
How...The second round tender is exactly that...It helps set the market for the player. Most teams will shed the pick for a good player, but the team has the right to match the offer.... The Jets are killing Keels ability to rape the Jets by assigning some unproven number to Leons worth.

They have a HOF QB who, when healthy, was the best in the game. They will have Moss and Welker back(at some point) and to have a great QB like Brady and add a weapon like Leon would make their O alot better and we'd be worse w/o him. If you guys think NE is done you are fooling yourselves- no they aren't the dynasty pats anymore but last I checked they whoopedus in NE and won the division.
