I think he actually did mention it a little further up in relation to Coles, I just left it out. Man, did I just defend Cimini? :)

The pats may just try and get us to over pay for leon, we should just stand our ground, take the second round pick, and break his leg again when we see them.

That blurb is freaking awesome in it's speculation-ness. It comes from the Post, and it's sources are 2 anonymous 'NFL observers', PFT's own retard rumor monger Florio, and ESPN.com.

Pardon me if I wait until Leon actually visits a team before I start worrying about offer sheets.

Or they may screw themselves in the process.

I'll wait until we have any indication that he's ready to pass the requisite physical to sign with one of those teams.

Any team that has a second round pick can be made into speculation.

    Leon Washington-RB- Jets Mar. 8 - 12:32 pm et

Citing "two NFL observers," the New York Post reports that the Patriots could pursue restricted free agent Leon Washington.

The match makes some sense because the Pats have seen Washington's talent up close for four years, have three second-round picks (the price it would cost to sign Leon to an offer sheet), and are somewhat unsettled at tailback. The report, though, seems more like speculation and is filed under the Post's "Rumors" section. We're not putting much stock in it.

This would suck if he went to New England!

Say a team like the Pats, a team with multiple 2nd round picks, decides to offer him a deal. Which 2nd rounder do the Jets get? The highest of the 3? The Pats original 2nd rounder?

I'd be sick if the Pats got Leon, the Jets can not let that happen.

I hope this really is just a rumor.

I'm not arguing w/ anyone in particular, I'm arguing against those that think getting rid of Jones was a good move.

Keels is an agent, they try to get the most money for their clients. There's nothing wrong w/ that. We don't have to pay leon anymore than we want to, if we think they are asking too much we move along so whether he uses the tender in negotiations is irrelevant. It was to ensure he'll be here in '09 and if he's not himself we let him go after '09. I think it's too much losing Jones and Leon in one offseason(if we lose Leon).

If we are as close as we think I'd rather risk playing this year out w/ Leon than getting the 2nd rd pick. teams draft to win championships, peopl around here act like the draft is another game. They want picks no matter what good players we need t give up to get them then in 2-3 years those same guys we just drafted they will want to see leave to get more picks.

This class may very well be much better but there is no such thing as a sure thing- we rmemebr Blair Thomas, right? just look at 2 years ago. our fans wanted us to lose so we could get Darren McFadden and he's 2 years into a career and has had zero impact on his team.

Tate is not a sure thing as a return man and we should draft multiple players to replace Leon when we had one guy who could do it all? and regardless whether he is here or not we'd still be able to draft Tate if we wanted to.

What do you expect him to say? None of us know the real motives as of today, we'll find out in the coming months and years.

It would be a disaster if Leon went to NE and we would get what we deserved if it happened.

My only worry if the Pats sign Leon...is that he comes back 100% healthy...which is still up in the air.

If he doesn't come back at full speed.....the Pats can have him. I'll gladly take their 2nd rounder off their hands.

What the hell does that even mean?

    As for Leon:
I think we all need to come to terms that he will likely be gone in 2011 anyway. We're not going to overpay for a RB who isn't even a featured back and his agent will demand too much. It would be good to get some value back for him.

It would suck for the Pats to get him, but they can then deal with the clown agent.

I dont care if Leons healthy or not, id prefer the Pats to have him.

Wed be able to draft a young talented guy with a future on our team. Theyd be giving up a second rounder for a high risk player nearing the end of this career.

Plus the Pats have so many damn holes, that a hb/kr is definitely not going to save them.

I hate losing players that I've become attached to. Leon Washington, before his injury, was the most exciting Jets player. I just don't want to see him go and especially not to the Pats.

I don't want to see this team changed so much. I understand Sheppard and Strickland, because they were injured for a good part of the season and the Cro is a big upgrade IMO. But potentially losing TJ, Feely, Leon and Kerry -- it's too much change for one man to handle :(

I guess I'm old school. I like teams to hold onto their big names. That's why I hate the salary cap. But what freaks me out is this year there is no salary cap, yet the Jets front office is acting like there is!

I also have a win now mentality. I'm not worried about next year. I want to win now, and I want to win with the guys I have become accustomed to -- with some potential stars like Cromartie thrown in.

People criticize me for wanting to spend like the Yankees, but I like what the Bears are doing. That's what we should be doing. I want to win now!
