Was Davis on the practice squad or the injured reserve this season? If it was the latter then I doubt he was getting much, if anything, from Richardson.

Bring Back Richardson BUT bring in some young competition (Davis?) and lets see how things work out in training camp. As with all older players, eventually, T-Rich's production will hit the wall. Too often, in the past, we have held onto players one year too long and though I like T-Rich, I really don't want to see this happen to us again.

Per forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=45162 Owen Schmitt has been released by the Seahawks.

Sorry for not being able to post links...I need 20 more posts apparently.

Maybe we should look into him as a replacement for T-Rich down the line. He can run as a Jumbo back also. Loved him during his college years at WVU.

"Schmitt attracted media and youtube attention in the aftermath of a game during the 2009 NFL season during which he smashed his helmet against his head until he opened up a large gash."

    that is all :p

I'dl ike to see what we have in Davis and I'm cool with a Davis / T-Rich competition.

Of course if someone more talented becomes available why not... but ATM I'm cool with those 2 guys battling it out.

Keep in mind that Mulligan (on our active roster for most of the season) is a TE / FB...

Wonder how people would feel about letting Trich go, us picking up McClain from Baltimore as a RFA (prolly a 2nd round tender), and then wiith Trich gone that gives us a free agent spot to pick up a defensive end or something

Not really... he has to sign for another team to free up a spot.

Ah crap forgot about that signing with another club part.

    Interesting,

But McClain is still one of the best FBs in the entire nfl, is incredibly young, and played for several of our coaches.

It really is a great fit. But we are thin on draft picks so who knows, maybe if we can get a 2nd round tender for Clemens then id go for McClain in a heart beat

If we get a 2nd round tender for Clemens I'd go play the lottery as fast as I can...

Does anyone have any update on Richardson's status with the Jets, I would really like to see him back in Green and White

He is not receiving any interest from any other teams and his position is not a priority right now. It will be a couple of days, if not weeks, before his name pops up in the papers again.

I 100% agree. I don't see any better options either. He played well last year, so I say we let him have at it for one more year.

the FB position is practically non existent anymore in the nfl. he is one of the best and i would take him using a walker over many fullbacks. i say we keep him until he calls it quits. not only is he important to our running game by laying great blocks, i have heard that he has helped tj read holes and potential openings. we need him around for the greene machine, and leon. no doubt do we keep him

Tony Richardson is ageless. Keep him until he starts to get banged up because I dont think I saw him ever really in pain or hurt last season.

Honestly let T-Rich decide. If he wants to retire bring in Jason Davis, if not we have one of the best FBs in football.
    I hope he stays.

TRich wants to come back, it's just a matter of when the Jets can get around to talking to him.
