Where do you believe Antonio Cromartie's ranks among cb's? Also, who do you believe to be the top 10 cb's in order?

haha yea i was just kidding/having some fun

IDK if Cro is top 10 ATM but he def has the talent to be. With Rex, I think he can play up to his potential esp with Revis on the other side.

FWIW San Diego's pass defense last year was ranked 12th against opposing #1 WR's, 10th against #2 opposing WR's, 9th against TE's and last in the NFL against RB's.

That makes it pretty likely that Cromartie was good against his man and like the rest of the SD defense not to eager to tackle the big outlet backs.

Interesting Fact: Jets were number one, giving up least yards (29.4 ypg) to #1 opposing WRs for obvious reasons.

Second were the Chargers with 46.0 ypg.

Did Cro cover #1s most of the time in San Diego?

I think, and I could be wrong, but I think they played sides. I think Jammer stayed left and Crom stayed right. Unless they stacked to one side of course.

    Some stats from profootball focus:

    Completion Percentage

Cromartie allows 57.0% of passes to be completed against him.Which places him 18th out of NFL corners who played at least 75% of snaps.By comparision Revis is 1st (36.9),Lowrey allowed 47.9% percent of passes completed and Sheppard allowed 48.1%

    Yards

Cromartie allowed his man to catch 545 yards. That's about 32 yards a game. This places him in 9th of NFL corners who played at least 75% of snaps.Devide it by catches and it's 12.1 yardsd a catch(18th in the NFL).

Revis is 3rd with 425 yards.

    YAC
178 yards after catch ranks him 9th against NFL corners who played at least 75% of snaps.Devide it by catches (45) gives us a 3.9555 yard after catch average.

    QB Rating
An opposing QB can expect to have a rating of 70.9 when throwing against Cromartie.Mainly because of a low number of TDs allowed (only 2,same as Revis). He's ranked 15th of all NFL corners who played at least 75% of snaps.

Well, to be honest, I think Rex Ryan's defense is the hardest to play in for a CB. We know Rex will probably have him on an island. I really haven't seen him play that much, but I know anybody that plays opposite of Revis in a Rex Ryan system is going to be tested and challenged by the opposing QB, and I sure hope he can step up and play better than Lito did.

Not sure how he compares to other CB's, but he got to practice against REALLY tall receivers...

Keep in mind that those numbers are reflective of him playing in a zone dominant, read & react type system. He is FAR better, and put up his best numbers, in a predominantly man coverage system under Wade Phillips which was more similar to the type of system the Jets run. He is a better fit here than SD.

I believe he will play FAR better in NY than he has the last year or two in SD. IMHO Cromartie > any CB on the Jets in 2009 not named Revis.

This was my thinking as well. The system has alot to do with how a player does. a great coach adjusts the system to the players talents (IE Revis). But when that doesn't work then the player finds a new home.

I see this as a vilma type move for SD. They have a talented guy who plays better in a different type of system so they trade him for a 3rd rounder.

I agree that he is better in man coverage. However, those are some pretty impressive stats for someone in a "down year" anyway
