Well, I'm hoping for two picks in the second round...hopefully someone will go after Leon Washington. I didn't know he was injured? All I know is that Landry loves to hit, and we need a safety that's can be equally effective against the run and the pass.
Although I would rather have the pick and a younger player, I would be happy to see Landry in green and white.
He started all 16 games last season but Mambo could be referring to 2008 when he only played in 2 games.
this is so dumb. we arent gonna win a super bowl by overhauling our team each year. you have to build with the players you have. its called good team chemistry. we have lost a leader in our locker room and now we are gonna give up 2 potential big play makers (brad smith was also put on 2nd round tender)
Exactly... I remember it was something reagarding his neck/spine/nerves so I was a little nervous... but I guess if he played 16/16 games last season he clearly is 100%...
Getting a 2nd rounder for a RB coming of a serious injury asking to be over-payed or for a situational wild-cat guy would be excellent. Do you have any idea about the amount of talent in this year's draft?
Can someone get Alvin Keels out of here before we lose Leon. Knowing the Jets luck we'll all think we're getting a good deal out of a 2nd round pick for an injured Leon, but watch him make it back to the Pro Bowl with another team next year and our pick be a bust.....
Not to mention Leon is almost 30 as a RB. Thats not a good combo. If you can replace a 30 year old running back with a 2nd round 23 year old running back youd be crazy not to. Especially since some great guys should be available in the 2nd round
i completely agree with the entire idea of getting a younger player in the 2nd round but im just skeptical of having another bust like we have in the past. hopefully it wont be a kyle brady draft
I would rather have the draft pick. Too much talent in the 2nd this year. And I think we're gonna get it too.
You do not win Kentuckey Derby with a donkey, or a horse with broken leg. You've got to replace them when you can. That's not 'hurting the team chemistry.' It's called "improving the team talent base."
Close to 30, coming off a major injury. While you see 'enough left in the tank' most reasonable people see 'red flag.' Take off your green glasses and stop drinking that green koolaids.
He had a horrible injury...2 seasons ago. Landry is in fine shape, his play just fell off last year. That very well could be because of Ryan's departure, but some people feel he's never been the same since he was hurt. Either way, I trust Ryan's opinion. Like I said in another thread, he does play the same position as Leonhard, so I'm not sure he's exactly what we're looking for to replace Rhodes. Still, Ryan's defense is flexible.
1. Ryan's departure 2. His injury in 2008. If he can come back to his 2007 play, I think he can be dominant in any system, especially Ryan's.
I don't understand the logic of some people who put an unproven draft picks value above a proven player... better yet, a player of Leon's caliber... Just baffling!
