From Hutchinson: http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2010/02/ny_jets_running_back_thomas_jo_3.html My first guess would be either Blount or Gerhart if we can trade back from our 1st or 2nd round pick, or trade someone for a 3rd.
These are the same 2 I like as well. We need a heavy hitter in the #3 role. I like Blount a lot. If the guy has cleaned up his issues, he would be a nice fit.
Go low cost vet for a #3. I wouldn't use, say a 2nd round pick, on Blount to be our #3 RB. We gotta be wise with our draft picks, and I think we have bigger needs than spending a high pick on a RB.
RB is a bigger need than people think. Leon could be gone in 2011, which would leave us with only Greene. Blount in the 3rd is worth it in my opinion.
I doubt the Jets drop a 2nd rounder on a HB but do not count anything out. I was sure that we would not trade up again to get Shonn Greene last draft until Tannenbaum actually did it. The Kerry Rhodes question is still out there, as well as 2nd round tenders on Brad Smith and Leon, either of whom could be in a new uniform. Even still, the Jets could trade back from the second round if their favorite prospect would be available later to pick up additional picks. I believe so.
He's a good hard runner, I wouldn't mind him neither in the late rounds for the #3 slot. He's split carries his whole time at USC anyways, fits the role nicely.
I love how everyone is crying for us to get another back now..yet when we had a 3rd back in TJ everyone screamed that LW and Greene weren't getting enough carries.
and yet everyone wants to spend a 2nd -3rd round pick or sign l.t. or westbrook. i like chauncey washington in the 3 spot.behind this o-line i think anyone with some talent will be successful.
Blount is awful. Doesn't have exceptional speed, is too hesitant hitting holes at time, and, for his size, doesn't really break tackles like he should. Overrated, IMO. There are a number of other 2nd/3rd round RBs I'd take before him.
