The 350's is not horrible, depending on how he is carrying the weight. If he is adding muscle mass to go along with the weight loss this is all good. If he shed a shit ton of water weight like a fighter does to weigh in it means little. Interviews are goign to be huge for him. Does he show dedication, the will to prepare to win not jsut a desire to be on the feild? Will he come of as passionate and football or instered in a pay check? He has the talent, but his of the feild work ethic is the big question mark. I doubt he climbs into the mid first, but the later portion there are several teams that could take the risk on him.
Pitt needs O-line and Defensive backs too badly to invest in another NT with a mid first. I could see them grabbign a guy like Earl Thomas or a CB in the first and hoping that a good O-line prospect last to the second this year.
Terrence Cody definitely has passion. The guy is one of the most fiery defensive tackles I've ever seen play this game. He is constantly screaming his head off after almost every big defensive play by the Tide's defense. He loves this game. You're right though, his off the field eating habits will have to be monitored. Like Cato and I were saying earlier in the year: if you put a few weight clauses in his contract, I'm sure he'll stay in relatively good shape for a nose tackle.
He has been battling the weight problem for a while. The significant aspect is that he keeps trying. The addition of a huge paycheque could change his dedication, but up until this point he has shown nothing but the desire to improve.
This is a TREMENDOUSLY underrated development. If Cody can drop that kind of weight without being under contract and without Nick Saban's foot up his ass, I interpret that to mean he could drop a lot more with a proper strength and conditioning coach and some contract incentives. If Cody can turn a good chunk of that flab into muscle over the next year, he's going to be a hell of a pro.
They could very well be targeting McCourty in the second. If that is true they might not want to pass up on a chance to secure the most important position on their defense for the next few years and be able to spell their aging NT for a few plays per game. If the OLine value is not there in the first, they could pick a guy they can groom as their future centerpiece over a couple of years. Again, I'm not saying that they are definitely going this route, but the Roonies will definitely take a look.
And yet, according to Florio, most teams are still putting a 4th round grade on him. Word is that his game film is utter garbage. EDIT: Here's the article from the very reputable(bwahahahahaha) source: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/02/27/some-still-have-bruce-campbell-low-on-the-board/ Now if that is not a slap in the face...
Yes, you hit on what I was refering to in the second paragraph. Passion on the feild is one thing, but it needs to carry over to the off feild things to really be great at what you do. No matter how much you love football, if you do not love it enough to stay in shape and train off the feild the NFL is going to tear you apart.
The NFL is a year round league. Cody doesn't have to focus on anything but football now. I think he'll be a fine player in this league.
I was driving home and heard Kiper specifically mention Campbell on the radio. He quoted a GM that stated something that echoed Florio. Yes he was a beast at the combine but Kiper also stated that his play on the field was nowhere near commensurate with his talent. Also that Compbell had no fire and needs to find a way to channel some emotion etc etc. Just passing along what he said on the radio.
I think you open up the Word Document titled: Kris Jenkins Contract, replace "Kris Jenkins" with "Terrence Cody" and hand him the same contract. You keep the weight down, you see more money. It worked for one of the elite NTs in the game. I'd still like to see him here if Wilson is gone. Him and Jenx on goal line plays is unfair.
Exactly, especially with leadership in this lockeroom you wont have to worry about him keeping his weight down.
Just watching Tebow live in the combine, and heard an interview with him earlier. Is it me or is this guy really that unlike-able? The word arrogance springs to mind. (don't know who he is) The dude doing the commentary says that Tebow to NE would make sense
I guess so, people dont like him because he has been perceived as a god of college football. For some reason everyone thinks Jimmy Claussen comes off as cocky, which I think is just confidence
and then after I said to my TV "that means nothing," Mayock and Charles Davis made the point that he doesn't play like a 4.27 kid on tape or at the Senior Bowl. Give me the WR who runs a 4.51 but leaves you at the LOS because of his route running. That's my guy.
