nope, still a FA. Only known interest right now are the Tigers (front-runner) and the White Sox.

In other news, Chien-Ming Wang signed with the Nationals. $2M guaranteed, don't know about incentives

If Wang can regain control of that sinker he will be a huge addition for them. I still don't fully understand his demise as a Yankee, it happened so suddenly.

I saw this last night. Good for Wang. If he gets his stuff back and Straussberg (sp?) pans out, they could get a nice 1 -2 punch for the NAts.

I can't see Wang being on the Nationals long enough to become a tandem with Strasburg.

My guess is he signed with them this season because he will have a spot in the rotation. If signing with the Yankees, he would have had to take less money (according to Cashman), and wouldn't have been guaranteed a spot in the rotation. Wang will be a FA at the end of the season, so signing with the Nats seems like a good fit for him to get back to form.

I'm pretty sure that the author agrees with you:

It's not likely at all, but there is precedent.

I'd eat my hat if it happened, too... but I wouldn't be surprised at all if his WAR was within .3 of Damon.

When the hell do ST games start? Pitchers and catchers is great from the day after the Super Bowl until the day they report. After that, I want games.

Yankees To Sign Chan Ho Park
By Tim Dierkes [February 22, 2010 at 7:33am CST]
The Yankees reached an agreement with pitcher Chan Ho Park on a one-year, $1.2MM deal, according to Kang Seung-woo of The Korea Times. He can earn another $300K in incentives.

At his press conference in Korea, Park said he was leaning toward the Cubs until recently, as they were willing to let him battle for a rotation spot. The Yankees' "history and championship contention" won out. Joel Sherman of the New York Times says Yankees GM Brian Cashman lobbied ownership to expand the payroll for Park, but now Chad Gaudin or Sergio Mitre could be traded.

Park, 36, posted a 2.52 ERA, 9.4 K/9, and 2.9 BB/9 in 50 relief innings for the Phillies last year. The Type B free agent was not offered arbitration by the Phils, but they did reportedly make a $3.25MM proposal.

Park was solid in relief with Philly and if nothing else becomes a mop up guy behind Joba/Hughes, Robertson, Aceves, Marte, Gaudin, Mitre, etc. Low risk move.

I was kind of hoping this meant they would be comfortable sending Joba or Hughes to AAA as a starter to keep them stretched out.

If I had to bet, this would be what I put my money on. And my gut tells me it's Hughes.

The more and more I talk to friends of mine who are Mets fans, I feel that a lot of them would enjoy watching the Yankees not make/win the World Series rather then the Mets winning.
