  5. J. Avant for an original rd tender (4th)

    2.4%
  6. L. Moore via a trade

    3.2%

    17.7%
  9. Draft in Day 2 (the old day 2)

I said the same thing. He's a nice fit for a 3rd receiver.

    Voted 2nd day.

For a slot Rec. Speed kills and you can get a fast reliable WR day 2.

Walter has been a #2 for the last few years. There is no way he is gonna take a demotion, and is most likely looking at a better payday than we can provide.

LaMo is good, but not worth a 2nd or even a third rounder. We can get a guy of similar quality on day 2 (day 3...thanks badge) late in the draft. Man I wish we still had Chansi...but not that badly considering.

I haven't looked into anything.. and have no idea about how realistic getting Avant would be.. but.. if he would be tendered for a fourth round pick.. I think this would be a great pick up.. for the past 2 years i had to listen to my roommate tlk about how amazing avant was as how he had the best hands on the team...

But after watching some eagles game.. this kid looks pretty good.. i mean i haven't gone too deep into the draft, YET, so i don't know exactly the level of talent available in the fourth.. but a 26 year old receiver with great hands.. I wouldn't mind throwing a 4th to the eagles for that..

Unless Benn falls to 29, wait until day 3.

you think he is going before 29?? I mean he definitely has the talent to be a 1st rounder.. but his stock has dropped off a bit..

To clarifiy: I didn't put Kevin Walter for the reason(s) stated by brothermoose.

Avant was drafted in the 4th round and I made the assumption thet would tender him for his original round... but it's just my speculation.

I voted L. Moore trade because I don't think you can get much more talent with 2 5th round picks and WRs (especially the ones taken in later rounds) need time to develop while Moore is already a reliable reciever (with a SB ring).

PS fun fact, did you guys know Stuckey dropped a ton of balls for the Browns tis year? So much for having reliable hands!

Im not thrilled about it either and I would love to do nothing more than to draft our next good receiver but for the first time since 98 we have a legit chance to go to the big show and we have to make big show decisions and the ugly truth of the matter is he is the best available now. The reward is worth the risk. With the running game we have he would get single coverage and will destroy most cb's in the league one on one.

T.O. made $6.5 with the Bills last year. What FA are we going to lose that will get a contract anywhere near that?

    Code:
    Player Position	Status
    Marques Douglas	DE UFA
    Jay Feely	PK UFA
    Ryan Fowler	ILB UFA
    Ben Hartsock	TE UFA
    Larry Izzo	ILB UFA
    Tony Richardson	FB UFA

Maybe Al Davis is looking to add a backup kicker?

Again, you are all ignoring the Jets' in ability to sign free agents in the uncapped year. A #3 WR is just not a priority. The Jets are fine with Brad Smith or someone else. It is not that important compared to DL, a pass rushing OLB, a CB, and OL depth.

Signing a good UFA WR is going to be next to impossible b/c of the restrictions. And the RFAs on the market will be almost as hard to sign since if they're any good, they'll be tendered. We do need another WR. It's not our biggest need, but Brad Smith is not a WR and there doesn't seem like there's a whole of faith in Clowney. There needs to be another guy out there that can be counted on besides Cotchery.

edit - Sorry, I read "ability", not inability. I believe Mambo is correct.. players that got cut are free game for us.

You are ignoring the fact that if a team cuts a player we can sign him because he isn't a UFa, he's a guy that got cut.

OL depth? WE don't need OL depth, we need OL starters but our depth is good...

I agree, WR should be our very last worry.

With a run first team I feel the guys we have can more then do the job.

You are absolutely right regarding the uncapped year. Not sure what we could do if anything to make it work but there are more pressing needs for our team. All of the above are more pressing needs for our team but Sanchez does have to have a deep threat to help out him and his running game as well. to be honest we need to try to see what we can do to get more picks to get depth all over the field. After our starters there is a huge drop off at a lot of positions. With a better pass rush we would not have to blitz every play.

    Edwards isn't a deep threat?

I'm pretty sure this thread is about upgrading the #3 WR position.

I'm pretty sure that is about to change. Sanchize showed plenty enough for them to cut him loose a bit, and Ryan pretty much as said as much in one of his interviews. I think he referred to the Jets being a "...more balanced offense..." next year.

I think we need another solid receiver with height, decent speed, and good hands. For two reasons really, depth/insurance against BE tanking or getting injured, 2) to give the offense that "too much to cover" capability that all of the top 4 had this year....except us. Cotch is a great receiver, and a go-to guy, but he has always been a bit streaky and he is not that speedy...he has trouble getting open on longer routes.

I didn't vote, because drafting a WR all depends on who is around when we draft. If an Elite pass rushers falls to us? No wideout in this draft would do. If we are left with second tier defensive guys and good options at wideout, I have no problem with it.

I don't se either of the released Vets coming to the Jets this season. The Coles ship has sailed and I think he will not return. I don;t belive there is enough value in Tory Holt left.

Trade is a possibility, but I think its a long shot. We've given up too many picks already and I don't see us moving guys of value off this roster.

I hating waiting so long for the Draft...i can see both sides to the argument but the NFL is a copycat league and the final teams had numerous weapons for their passing games so I would not be surprised if we go that route.
