I agree right now, but this means nothing coming Summer time.

My problem with the Pats is they have 4 picks in the top 2 rds this year and 2 in the first round next year... while I think Belichick isn't that good at drafting those are 6 new starters on the team in two years... if they draft well they could be in for another dynasty run...

I wonder if they'll try to make a move for Peppers... if they do we could be in serious trouble...

I don't know if the Jets are truly on the rise or merely sitting in the middle, with an equal chance to continue to rise or fall back.

I think Tannenbaum would be wise to make moves that build the team long term as well as try to get immediate help.

Yes, we have some key young talent at QB, RB, TE, C, LB, and CB, but the rest of the team is middle to old and all the promise that people are talking about can disappear if the team doesn't continue to get younger, especially along the lines.

I'd like to see at least one interior offensive linemen taking, preferably a guard who can swing at Center in case of injury, and some youth and impact at DE, in addition to the matching bookend we're all calling for at CB.

Teams float up and down every year, and I think the Jets should take last year's success with a grain of salt. If the Colts keep their starters in during the regular season, I don't think we win the game, we miss the playoffs and we all have a very different feeling about "how close" this team is to contending.

I think we're in position to dominate the division for years to come...but only if long-term unsexy moves are part of the mix.

I agree. They stocked up like a motherfucker. They can easily retool with the right draft picks. Not to mention it's not like we won 14 games last year or didn't finish just 1 game ahead of Miami who are a couple of pieces away from being a playoff team. We snuck into the playoffs and played well for a couple of games. We don't have it easy and won't have it easy for a while.

I agree, right now we look better then the Pats, that evil empire is retooling for another dynasty run, Brady is still their QB, and Belicheat is still the coach

We need this team to make strides in training camp and we need to increase our depth of players in the trenches and on defense, the interview Tanny had earlier in the off-season pretty much showed us what direction were going, increasing our depth, Pats won't give their AFC East domination up easily, were going to have to take it from them, Miami is still in contention also

Hopefully this team doesn't get too cocky, we still got plenty of work to do, in a way I think were all set for a let-down next season, we got lucky as shit, regardless we added pieces we should be ok, a lot of AFC teams are coming back strong next season (Steelers/Titans/Texans to make a few), with Jenkins and Washington coming back next season though we can look like an elite team, but the question is can we execute down the stretch and win games, and not throw them away

We got our work cutout for us, but with Rex as our coach I have faith we can get better

Yep its all about those pats draft picks.

4 picks in the first 2 rounds, they can easily fill out there defense with some good safetys, corner backs . And then 2 1st round picks next year.

You can easily be talking about a whole new team.

And on offense they still got Brady Welker/Moss which is all their cheap offense needs.

Hopefully we can find a way to keep up, and the Pats poor team chemistry/lack of defense holds them down.

A little early for that, but whatever.

The Pats are still the team to beat until proven different.

i talked about this with MB a bit last night. without welker at 100% that offense is in awful shape. every team will be able to double up on moss which is going to frustrate him to no end. that welker like guy they have whose name i can't remember looked pretty good when he got playing time last year, but welker is in a league of his own with his elusiveness in small spaces.

the pats defense was nothing special last year either. in the first game against us they made sanchez look like a pro bowl veteran. the other times i watched them play last season nothing really stuck out to me as being anything more than average. they do have some good young talent on the defense, but not enough at the moment to build a dominant unit around.

as long as brady is healthy they will be a competitive team, but their days as the afc east champs before the season even starts are in the past. i think its possible the jets and dolphins are better than them next season. we are in a 3 horse race going into next year and no matter what happens i expect the division will be closely contested for the entire season.

I actually had this exact discussion with a coworker recently. The Pats are reloading right now. The Jets should have the division for 2 years or so, but the Pats will be back.

It all depends on how they reload though... I wouldn't take for granted that they draft well.
It will be hard to go wrong though considering the talent in the next 2 drafts...

As far as the Jets go we need to address our future on the DL.

On O we just need to find replacements for Faneca, Woody and TJ and then we are a young team (Moore is only 29, I don't get why people are calling him old).

On D We have a young secondary, a medium (in terms of age) LB corp and an old DL... if we address the latter we are a young and strong team for years to come!

they are going to try and reload. the pats have had tons of draft picks pretty much every year. what do they have to show for it right now? 2 really good defensive players is about all i can think of.

How may picks do we have in the draft. We Lito and Braylon, we gave away a lot of picks. How the hell are we gonna get better with the FA restrictions?

I believe we have 5 draft picks - 1, 2, 5, 6, & 7. Maybe we can get better with those draft picks and existing talent? You can't be the champions of the offseason every year anyway. Especially when the FA talent pool is as shallow as it will be this offseason.

Well Brady can't play forever, he's wasting his prime as we speak, he's 32 now, he'll play I think till at least 40 years of age that window for the Pats is closing and closing fast, they can't afford to wait on a young defense to come through, losing Welker is an absolute kill, Eldeman or whatever is name is he's good but not Welker good

Moss is getting older, Welker won't be as explosive, the OL is losing it's luster, things aren't going well for the Pats, but if they make the right choices in the draft they will be back but they won't nearly be as good as they were when they were a dynasty

Also take this into effect, The Pats aren't isn't an ideal location like it used to be for veterans to go, players have seen how they have treated their players (Asante Samuel/Vince Wilfork)

They keep letting these guys go eventually it will bite them right in the ass, whose going to want to go there to play when their future is in question? They disrespect their players in a sense that "hey we can always replace you" that shit only works for so long
