Lance Moore is one of the better slot receivers on the free agent market this offseason (restricted of course). He's the classic case of a good receiver buried on the depth chart of a very good offense. My question to you is what kind of tender do you think he'll get from the Saints and do you think we should try to sign him?

That'd be a pretty good signing I think. The Saints probably won't give him the high tender since they have Colston, Henderson, and Meachem ahead of him, so he may not cost too much. Problem is, if they give him any tender at all, we'd probably have to give us a pick, something I definitely don't want to do with already only having 5 to start with.

why give up draft picks for a #3 WR when it can be found in FA or drafted in the 5th round?

the Jets can't afford to lose any more picks this year.

Hey, I'd rather sign him as a restricted free agent than draft Golden Tate like some of you guys are suggesting.

Kiper suggested Tate and there was a big thread on it.

Moore is not a UFA. Its going to cost a pick. If Moore costs a 6th its fine, but he's going to cost a 4th.. the Jets don't have a 4th.

If they give him the 5th round tender it'd be a no brainier to sign him

    That I agree with.

It depends on what his salary is.

Also, if he's a 5th round tender, the Jets won't be the only team trying to get him.

That's the catch. I'd be thrilled to have him but he'll demand more than a 5th round pick.

We could do our typical trade... a 5th this year and a conditional next year...

Problem is teams should always be wary of WRs that overachieve with HOF QBs. NOt saying Moore wouldn't be a value pick, just that his talent evaluation might be a bit off.

Plus strong passing teams always like to have 4 starting caliber WRs and the Saints are certainly a pass-first team.

He's good. But, he's always injured.

with the way the Jets offense is built, everyone is looking for that slot WR. But the Jets need a check down guy for Sanchez. If he comes in a 3rd down back (no one say Woodhead, you'll prove your ignorance), or a strong #3 so be it.

Keller will have a breakout year, considering its year 3 and he's clicked with Sanchez. Keller quietly had a decent year last year, but people were expecting 60+ catches and 6TDs. I knew he wasn't going to touch that with a rookie QB at the helm.

Sanchez needs a checkdown guy more than a slot WR. Someone has to be found. Go get Mike Furrey.

Leon will be the check down guy.

I couldn't agree more. There is no reason to trade draft picks for a slot-receiver. We can draft one in the later rounds.

Furrey will be 33 when the season starts and he may want to finish his career in Cleveland because he is an Ohio native. Also, Mangini lets him play on offense and defense.
He has had such a strange career. He was an Arena league star. Then he was in camp with the Jets and abruptly quit even though he was drawing good reviews.

In 2005 he played safety for St. Louis and led the team in interceptions. The next year he led the NFC in receptions.

Leon is the best bet for a checkdown guy. He's going to get signed and then he will have a full (hopefully) offseason with Mark. Plus it saves the Jets another pick.

LW should be used as KR, 3rd RB, and slot.

Lance Moore sounds like a gay porno name. Not sure I'd be able to handle listening to that on 3rd down all year.

I don't understand the fascination with picking up another receiver. We have a pretty well rounded receiving corps IMO and we're adding our RB receiving threat back.
