    trade down

    draft neither

get a pass rusher with our first pick (2nd round)

get corner with our second pick (trade up)

EDIT/note: CBs usually go really fast in the 2nd round; we also need a PR

Draft Brandon Graham!!!! He was a beast in the senior bowl and thats against the best competition in college. This kid would give us the pass rush we need to be able to have mediocre cornerbacks(excluding REVIS)

To me, it's looking more and more likely that our pick will be between Golden Tate, Mardy Gilyard, and Damian Williams. They give us a great threat at slot receiver and they're all versatile. They can also return punts.

Our offense is the weakest unit of our football team. Case in point: if the offense gets a first down on the drive before the 2nd half in the Indy game, Manning doesn't have a chance to score. If our offense scored any points at all in the 2nd half of that game, we would, at worst, be only down a touchdown with 4 minutes left in the game. We cannot have an offense that throws the ball the least amount of times in the league. We need a balanced attack. By helping the offense, we're also helping the defense. As of now, I think we're drafting one of these wide receivers.

I'd bust a nut if we drafted Damian Williams. He's basically a better version of Gilyard, and I think Gilyard is damn good. Only problem is that he doesn't have returning abilities too.

    BPA of OL, DB, WR

There will be at least one very good player in the above categories available to us at 29 (and at a relatively reasonable price).

I'm not an advocate of WR in the first round. After giving up the picks for Edwards I don't want 3 of our picks essentially being used on one position.

^ the philosophy is that with the top defense the jets have they will continue to build a team around Sanchez, thus giving him another target. But I agree in the sense that they shouldn't draft a 1st round WR. They only need a slot WR in the Stuckey mold. Stuckey isn't one of a kind. Mike Furrey could do his job.

The lines need new blood. I don't want another 05 or 07 situation happening. Get some youth that will be ready to go in 2 years and this line continues it's dominance.

thats my thinking, i dont want to use a first on another wideout. especially when we can get a slot RAC machine like arrelious benn in the late 2-3 rounds. juice williams and ron zook fucked up his production this year, i think hell be a beast at the next level

Draft the most talented defensive player left to give Rex another weapon to use. No matter what position he will know how to best use his players.

Jets might be better off trading out of the first round and collecting more picks

Only players I'd take at #29 are Iupati (OL) and Wilson (CB).... maaaaaaybe Graham (OLB).

If they are all gone I want the Jets to trade out of the 1st round and, with their highest pick, target a CB that can play effectively opposite to Revis.

Dan Williams? No? If he's there, you still trade down?

    Yup :)

Don't get me wrong, I like Dan Williams a lot but I prefer a 2nd round CB + a 3rd WR rather than (or "then"? god, I'll never learn) Williams...

Iupati is going to be a pro bowler at LG for years and in 2011 we are cutting Faneca (8.4 mill contract with 1.6 guaranteed at 35/36).

Wilson has a chance to be something special in terms of ball-hawk CB and CBs are soo important in Rex scheme.

Graham is A football player... he would thrive in a rex D... always giving 100%.

Williams will be a very good and solid player for years to come but I'm cool with what we have + DL isn't the first place where talent is needed in Rex's D (IMO of course).

My dream draft is we trade down and take Ghee/McCourty (Wilson won't be there) in the 2nd and Shipley/Roberts (guy from Citadel) in the 3rd.

I disagree with your opinion completely. CB isn't a very pressing need, considering we just had the #1 rated passing D. Revis is the biggest piece to that puzzle, which takes a lot of the pressure off of needing to find two good CB's. Getting pressure in my opinion was a glaring disapointment, and needs upgraded this offseason.

I just can't believe that Rex likes to blitz the house everytime just to get some sort of pressure on the opposing QB. You can get way more creative in your scheme if you can establish a good natural pass rush on a consistent basis. I don't recall the Ravens Defense playing like that, they had a natural pass rush when Rex was in town. From what I recall.

I'm seriously leaning more towards a Brandon Graham - Eric Norwood type of player. Maybe you are right though, this is just my opinion of course.

Take Graham if he is available. Pass rush is the weakest area on our team. Thanks Gholston. If Graham is gone draft Odrick. We need youth on our DL.

A slot receiver would be a great selection, I think. Can't go wrong with a DE or CB, either.

Is anyone else nervous about Jay Feeley coming back as the PK?
