He looks good, available?????

 

He's on the Jets.

 

We already know he's on our practice squad. There was a thread about it when we signed him.

 

He's on the active roster.

 

I like his running style, everyone look at how in that video from about 0:50 to 0:56 how he gets tackled and while he is on his back he is still churning his legs!

I also remember that he was a great receiver out of the backfield from the times I saw him play in the NFL.

 

What I see there, he's not an elusive runner. It was obvious he likes contact, and never tries to sidestep anybody. You can do that and get away with it if you have the speed and brute force of our guy Greene, but I would have to see him against next level defenders to see if he can contribute beyond being a possible goal-line short yardage back.

Bottom line, a straight-line runner; I think the prospects are slim unless he has the talent and footwork to change his game. But I'm only saying that from this one video.

 

Well, I 'm definitely in need of keeping up with the practice squad, and roster, My BAD, I feel inadequate.......and foolish to boot...

 

As to replacing TJ, I invented my own nickname for TJ late this past season. I started calling him five-step dive, and I think you can figure out why. The tread was more than a little worn off. So if by replacing TJ in that way, then yeah, he may even be an upgrade.

 

You cant judge the guy based on this vid the SC Oline is blowing people off the ball he 's not making contact with a defender until he's 5 yards downfield.

 

He looks impressive on the video, I was trying to figure out why he has been on Jacksonville's and Dallas's practice squad and not on an active roster, it made me look back on my draft guild from a few years ago. The knock on him is that he drove the USC coaches crazy with his fumbling. I also found the scouting report below on-line. If we can fix his fumbling issue we may have something, worth a look anyway. I'm sure Sanchez gave the coaching staff his own scouting report on him.

Chauncey Washington was selected in the 7th round pick 213 of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Chauncey Washington joins former USC teammate, Thomas Williams, on the Jacksonville Jaguars roster.

Another Reggie Bush in the making - Chauncey Washington was often nicknamed "The General", perhaps because in the USC's armed forces on the football field he is next in line to the "President" that is Reggie. To his friends, Chauncey Washington is simply "C-Dub".

Washington had a celebrated career as an athlete at South Torrance High School. In his Senior 2002 season, he earned numerous All-American honors, running for 1,549 yards on 140 carries (11.1 avg.) with 23 TDs while catching 13 passes for 200 yards (15.4 avg.) with 2 TDs in 2002 despite missing 5 games with a knee injury. He also earned substantial notice as a sophomore and junior player

As a Senior, Washington was ranked as the #12 running back in the nation by ESPN.com was aggressively recruited by USC and Michigan State, as well as Wisconsin, Oregon, Oregon State, ASU, Arizona, Boston College and Washington State.

Although Washington admitted he grew up as a rival-UCLA fan, he became USC's second commitment to the 2003 recruiting class in May of 2002. That heralded Trojan recruiting class that included two other highly touted running backs: 2005 Heisman Trophy-winner Reggie Bush as well as Colorado high school all-star and future USC touchdown leader LenDale White. Going into their freshman 2003 season, all three backs were considered to be talented enough to challenge for the starting position and all three played during the USC opener at Auburn. Unfortunately, his first three seasons were hampered by numerous problems.

Washington's freshman season was limited by a nagging ankle injury suffered in the second game of the season that caused him to miss half the season and the 2004 spring practice due to a stress fracture in the ankle. He was ruled academically ineligible for the 2004 season and was redshirted. After an impressive spring practice in 2005, he was again academically ineligible for the 2005 season and lost his athletic scholarship. After mulling entering the NFL Draft, quitting or transferring to a different school (with easier academic requirements); Washington, encouraged by his parents, teammates and university staff, decided to stay in school and focus on academics while paying his own way through school. After much focus and hard work, Washington finally regained academic eligibility in the spring of 2006, and regained his scholarship that August.

Initially planned as the starting running back for the 2006 USC Trojans, the redshirt-Junior suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season practice. To allow Washington to properly recover, USC began the 2006 season with first-ever true freshman running back. By mid-season, Washington had re-gained the starting position. He told the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein that he had decided to forego the 2007 NFL Draft and return for his redshirt senior season.

Going into 2007 Spring Practice, Washington's grades again became a concern. He will be in contention for the starting tailback spot in the 2007 season, with pressure from a number of underclassmen and previously injured Hershel Dennis.

 

His running style looks a lot like Greene's, except with a little more speed and lateral movement. Chauncey is one of the players that I want to see with the ball in his hands during the preseason. I think he has a decent shot of making this team if the Jets' CS decides to move Jones or keep 5 RBs(Greene, Washington, Jones, Chauncey, Richardson/replacement FB). Even if he doesn't make it, he is only listed with 8 games of experience so he is still practice squad eligible.

As for T-Rich, I wouldn't be too worried about his age. He is still performing at a high level and he has not shown any signs of slowing down or getting weaker. He doesn't touch the ball too much so he doesn't absorb the hits like a ball-carrier would. He's one of the rare ageless players in this league.

 

If T-Rich goes down the Jets still have Woodhead who can be utilized as a FB(in addition to slot WR and Rb) or the Jets can bring back Pennington.
